The success of the British team is brilliant, but maybe just maybe it could give our youngsters a better set of role models than the current assemblage of TOWIE and BB riffraff or the likes of Katona and Plastic Price et al.

None of that lot collectively have as much talent, ability or skill of any one of the Olympians.

Very positive about the rest of the Olympics Arthur, but I thought the opening ceremony had a sickening lefty multicultural bias, even if it was extremely well done…

I really don’t know what your beef is, it was not a political display at all or do you, like so many deluded Tories think that Industrial Revolution was only about industrialists and engineers getting rich and building things, that the atrocious conditions of workers never happened.

Not a major multi-culti fan, but don’t deny that we do have a diverse population, incidentally possibly Tories don’t like being reminded that in fact it was they who promoted the first major influx from the Caribbean in the search for cheap labour.

It was a brilliant show of our heritage warts and all, well concieved and enacted, with some tongue in cheek comedy, light entertainment and a superb finale.

When the government get to grips with the real tax dodgers, possibly their concerns about a plumber getting a few cash jobs may be considered.

His crime, if there was one is minor, yet we have illegals coming out of our ears who we seemingly can’t deport for every feeble excuse that corrupt lawyers can come up with.

We have known, convicted, foreign nationals who we can’t deport or keep in jail, but this lad who according to reports has certainly contributed can be heaved out on the flimsiest reason.

Leaving the Army is not a crime, whatever his reasons.

“Yes, but you don’t know whats in the trucks they use to fill the tanks do you?

Yes, I sometimes fuel aircraft with gasoline or kerosene”

But the people who work at airports & on aircraft are sworn to secrecy!”

Really? MILLIONS of people who work on aircraft are sworn to secrecy? I wasn’t..

FFS these morons give my ass a migraine.

I often wonder just were do these nut jobs think all this chemical is actually stored or carried on an aircraft, who exactly is doing the spraying?

This has made the job of a honest copper even harder. What backing does he or she get? Nick someone and you will be liable to a complaint, The CPS(AKA the criminal protection society) sling most cases out. If their is a conviction the sentence is a joke. Would I do that job? Not “B” likely.

That’s the real downside, the majority of police officers do a damn good job of a pretty thankless task, back up from the courts, CPS, politicians and even the general public is less than satisfactory.

I just can’t believe how this guy managed to work the system with timely retirement and then re-enter the force by the back door, reminiscent of the number of politicians in the expenses scandal, who decided to stand down rather than face an enquiry.

    Presumably they get minimum-wage?

The majority of these agricultural workers are gang master workforce, while it’s true they will be paid minimum wage, there will be deductions for lodging, transport sometimes for food and power.

In many cases the farmers/ growers are also the gang masters, quick example that I did know about, average three bed semi with 8 workers resident, each one paying £100 per week for lodging only.

This house was in rural West Lancashire, £800 per week rent makes a damn good subsidy to offset wages, particularly when these 8 workers were classed as students, the employer giving them time off on Friday afternoon to attend language classes and picking up a subsidy for doing so, and that was just one house, in total this employer had a full time staff of around 24 rising to over 50 at certain times, all housed in his property much of it ex holiday caravans.

I don’t know what current regulations are, but this employer employs just 8 British staff and any applicants from local people will not get past reception desk, because he cannot defray wages against other charges not because of the quality or otherwise of the workforce.
