G-ORDY, They would have still been operating out of Duxford in June, they didn’t start filming at Binbrook until the middle of July. They often used to be about on those summer evenings.
Great News!!
The Hurricane seems to be the forgotten brother of the Spitfire.
Would be nice to have a show dedicated to the Hurricane like the 1 back in 1996 for the Spitfire, the only problem I would fear the numbers of Hurris around!!
There is seven in the uk currently more or less airworthy with others to follow. Would be nice to get them all together.
Very nice. Is this the two seat Hunter that came through Duxford last week?
Rob
No it was this one I believe.

Possibly daft question but is it usually based at EMA? I’ve worked at East Midlands for almost two years and have never spotted it
You wouldn’t have seen it as it has been at Duxford for a couple of years at least and may have been at Filton before it went there.
Looks superb, if you could just rescue the Phantom and bring that home to Wattisham.
Some more.

And some more.

Interesting dig and some great finds.
Very nice, it certainly looks the best that I have ever seen it look. Hope it encourages RR to finish the Mk14 restoration.
I guess we all have ideas of what we would like to see where after the re-shuffle. Personally I think the Viscount deserves to be under cover after the excellent restoration and the fact it’s the oldest surviving turboprop airliner, so perhaps it could go in Airspace to replace the Hastings (another excellent effort). It would then complete the trio of leading edge British transports i.e Concorde, Comet and Viscount. The Hastings could then replace the Varsity in Hangar 4 and maybe room could be found for the Ambassador in the “restoration” end of Airspace. We live in hope.
The Viscount and the Buccaneer were due to go inside Airspace when it was complete, but there was a problem with spacing and health and safety requirements according to a FOD newsletter so they had to leave them out.
Looks good, another fine job by the team there.

I have vague recollections of going to an airshow at Bassingbourn in the mid to late 70’s (?)
There was a show at Bassingbourn in May 1978, if you search on Abpic there are some photo’s of the day and some others when the RAF were there.

From what I have seen of human bones that have been buried I’d say that there should be remains of the crew still there. I think it highly unlikely that the clothing and maps would last longer than bone or teeth.
