Another question occurred to me: Is the airfield still part of the estate?

I believe it is part of the estate. From what someone told my father the other day, whoever is responsible now doesn’t have much interest in keeping things the way they are now and would rather turn it into money.
Let’s hope we don’t lose another airfield.

Lovely shots, shame we don’t see the Bronco’s at more shows. Looked like a good show.

Nice shots Brian, did you get any of TFC’s new Spitfire XVI then, or did you only get the XIV instead.:D

Seafuryfan, the suggestion was made that the civillian hunter display team were more likely to plummet into the crowd than anyone else, and that civillian pilots are not as well trained as their military counterparts. The fact that the majority of warbird pilots ARE ex-military with thousands of display hours (experience) under their belt seems to have escaped some people… THAT is what I was disagreeing with. I concur that large amounts of hours do not make a good disply pilot, but rather that large amounts of relevant hours (experience) does help.

Accidents happen… it matters not whether it is a military pilot or a civvie at the controls.

I think you missed the point I was making, Both the warbird teams mentioned had and have pilots that are used to flying together in close formation. I do know the TV pilots backgrounds but how many of those 33000 hours have actually been clocked up as a complete team flying those five Hunters, barely double figures I guess. As their commentator said at Kemble on Saturday they hadn’t had too many chances to get together and were using the show to iron out a few wobbles. I do like TV and what they are doing, but I was merely using them as an example compared to the warbird teams that have many hours experience flying in formation together that people seem to think are unsafe.

Was it from the drawing boards of Sir S Camm

There was one of those at a few shows last year that made me feel really uneasy every time it did a loop, it never seemed to have enough power or height to complete it safely. I really thought he was pushing it at Dunsfold in a few ways.
As for close formation aero’s, I don’t see a problem with teams like the Horsemen and the Breightling fighters. It’s teams like Team Viper that I would be more worried about, flying expensive to operate jets where it would cost too much to fly together enough to get to an acceptable standard like the Red Arrows.
Back to Legends, it’s looking like quite a good line up.

Love the one of the Dak coming in to land.

As for MissD’s colour scheme, I guess that I am very much in the minority!

I like the colour scheme myself, it certainly is a popular performer at the shows and I think that is down to the colour scheme as it appeals to the majority of people that go to shows and not just enthusiasts. There are enough Hunters in proper schemes anyway.

It will be good to see Miss Helen back in the air again, didn’t realise the repairs were so advanced.

Such a sad end to a wonderful aircraft – the miles it flew to return to the UK and across the US will be remembered by many I am sure. Glad all onboard got out safely.

    That sums it up nicely.

Excellent set, Buccaneer shots are my favourites though.
