A few more for now.
That’s probably because RAF Coningsbury is in the East Midlands :diablo:
And RAF Coningsby is in lincolnshire so it does seem a strange choice of channels to show the programme on.;)
According to BBC reporter Robert Hall (in his lunchtime news report about the Lancaster last Friday), there is supposed to be a programme aired in the BBC Yorks & Lincs/E Midlands (and I think one of the other regions in that area) about the BBMF and their 50th Anniversary, on Friday May the 4th.
I’ve searched the Sky TV guide for these channels, and can’t find any entry for this programme anytime for that day or before & after!
I’ve checked the various BBC regional websites, but no info there either.
Does anyone here from BBMF know when it’s due to air?
Cheers
Paul
Sky channel 980.
Binbrook, Machrihanish, Honington, St Athan, Swinderby, Laarbruch all closed and still Marham is open! Call that justice!
Honington is still open.
Shame but it’s happening at many old airfields such as Watton where the hangars are now being demolished.
Norwich has several roads named after aircraft and the new housing estate being built at watton will have at least one aircraft name.
Looks much better than its previous scheme. Nice pic’s Darren.
Doesn’t seem to be a Spit unit with a B-something code, according to this list, at least:
451 squadron start with a B according to that list Daz.;)
The first one is Hampstead noris.

Neither was NL314BG “Petie 2nd” of WoGB painted in Olive Drab. This and “Sunny VIII” of Spencer Flack were only used for back of formation shots. I only recall them actually being in one massed take-off from DX, and that was with with the other 5 P51’s, 3x B17’s, the B25, and 3x Buchons on a Friday afternoon if I recall correctly! 🙂
I can’t actually imagine Spencer or Doug Arnold letting anyone near their Mustangs with a spray gun full of OD paint, from what I remember of them both. 😀
It certainly made an impressive sight seeing all those in the sky at the same time. Pretty sure it was a friday too.
This was her painted in 1992 at Middle Wallop.

I cannot find any other photos of here before that date. I am sure that someone out there has NL1051S in M-Belle olive drab colours.
Brian.
It wasn’t painted for the film as Ollie said.
Here is a head on view.
No, the carriages are way too heavy.
There is a rather decrepid example out towards Thetford which would look lovely at Duxford .
That will be the Roudham example near East Harling.
As the timings are only estimates i’m still thinking Topcliffe as there are what look like a couple of rectangular reservoirs around half a mile off the 13/31 runway. All the runways are there and the main has an extension.
