Always good to see Lee Proudfoot flying MH434, he displays it very well and in a way the Hanna’s would be proud of. I wish he could fly it more often than he does.
Another yes from me, would love to see it run.
Isn’t it quite an old view of the airfield, thought that the runways had been ripped up in the early 2000’s. Looking at it again it certainly is an old view, the M25 hadn’t been widened. So whatever it was is still there or they managed to break it out, Google Earth shows the airfield as it is now more or less. The latest images are 2011.
Lovely shot of the F-86, it would be nice if Golden Apple could paint their example to represent one of the Shepherds Grove Sabres. Maybe Roobarb and co. could work their magic on it.
I would like to see NH238 reunited with PL983 again, just for old times sake. It was good when OFMC operated them in the late 80’s early 90’s. Seems such a shame keeping it shut away in a container.
Great shots there in post 647. Makes you wonder what other rare photo’s are lurking around that haven’t seen the light of day since they were taken.
Thanks for sharing them.
I remember those markings – but they weren’t on for long! Filming was at Hatfield, I think – and I’m pretty sure the aircraft were only away for a couple of days.
Great scene.
I would have thought those scenes were filmed in France, looks like Ray and Mark were kitted up for a trip over water.
Great shots of them and pretty rare too.
Lovely shots, some impressive models too.
Thank you for clarification of the date
I remember the Hurricane having to skip over the top of him !
I Still remember that happening, I was only four at the time and it is one of my earliest aviation memories.
I have only found a couple of small pieces of aircraft fuselage, one was at Lakenheath and the other was at Shepherds Grove, also found several bullets. Probably the most interesting stuff I found have been names and dates written in the concrete, the 92fis squadron badge and date also in the concrete and a tree at Knettishall with loads of names carved in the bark. Also found a load of footprints in part of the perimeter track at Eye airfield from when it was layed. Things like that make you think about the people involved one way or another in the war and not just the aircraft.

Brian
Think he means the Sun.
I wouldn’t go calling Ed Shipley and co a Horesman if I were you Alohha1234;)
No shortage of hangarage on that airfield. Been to the motocross track nearby a couple of times but didn’t really pay too much attention to the airfield.
Is the third Seafire a MkXVII?
Alohha1234, Mildenhall has the 100th ARW not Lakenheath.
Is this the third time that the glass will have been taken out? How much do they need to raise to do that this time?
