Thanks Anne
Well that simplifies things!
cheers and thank you
That exact information isn’t available to my knowledge Mark. The Avro constructors number will only yield a range of possible serial numbers, not an exact one.
I can look for you
Hi Alan, there is little stainless steel on a Whitley, and those parts present are often shared with the Albemarle. I have gone through my Whitley V parts book and although the number falls within the range of Whitley part numbers, it is not present. I’m pretty sure it’s Albemarle, the construction is typical, plus the subcontractors inspection stamp suggest Albemarle as production was widely dispersed. That said, I have amassed a modest collection of Albemarle parts and would be interested if it can find its way out of your shed!
Hi Bill, don’t know if you are still around but that’s exactly what it is
I have both Mark, an intact 1082 and a large amount of 1083. I do not want to part with them but would if you had some good Spitfire swaps. Best to contact me on facebook as I rarely visit here
Yes please Brian. I’ll pm you
Is there any indication on where this panel came from Brian? Russia or maybe the UK?
Just be aware the Germans used some very similar fasteners to the Fairey type and they can easily be mistaking for British ones.
Much respect to you Melvin – gone but never forgotten. Rest in piece sir
Thanks everyone
Hi guys, sorry I should have said it held a fuel gauge reading switch, here are pics that show how it looked. Does that help?
Hello, I heard my name and I just emerged from my burrow blinking in the bright sunlight!
I’m sending you a pm and an email Alan.
Does anyone recognise this spade grip appendage? I think it originally came from a scrapyard and when I got it, it held the remains of a fuel tank selector push button.
The numbers on it are: 2 (followed by an indistinct inspection stamp) A.
Then EV3C4/2
I’m wondering if anyone out there may have a grip with one of these still attached. The third pic shows similar fittings on a Typhoon grip.
Looks like it was made by Claudel Hobson – that friction knob looks identical to the one on my Whitley throttle
That was a real surprise Feroxeng! Great you have one too… My airfield was shut by the time Lincolns came into service. So far we seem to have ruled out Stirling and Halifax. I confess I wouldn’t know what a Whitley glider release handle looked like if one came up and bit me! Air Min’s Lanc comment and the Avro link suggests a Lanc may be a possibility.
It’s quite crude so I did wonder if it was a mod.
Do you know what the two screws are for?
