Thanks Anne! Do you mind me asking where you found this out? I’d be interested to know if its from a reference book.
Thanks, Jamie.
JWP: I recall someone at Dx flying a warbird with the prop from another type for some reason & he didn’t like it at all. I think it was a Spit prop on Buchon or vice versa. May have been Mark Hanna?
Well I guess either way round there would have been quite a weight difference between the Spit wooden blades & the Buchon metal blades. I was told that Connie Edwards said the 2 seat Buchon needed the 4 blade prop, I guess it’s able to use more of the power with the extra blade?
The Rotol 4 blade prop for a Buchon is a R116/4F5/4. The R12/4F5/4 (or the R5/4F5/4 depending on the reduction gear) is the Rotol 4 blade prop for the Spitfire. The hubs are essentially the same & are interchangeable.

I was reading about the restoration of the Seafire, and it was said that one of the most difficult things to replace, was the propeller.
Alan, what restoration was this? I’m surprised it says the propeller was difficult to replace. There are plenty of options for hubs, new blades can be made & most parts can be manufactured if needed.
Jamie.
Perfect! Thanks for your help. I’m ordering a copy now!
Thanks Creaking Door, that’s great. Could you tell me where you got this info? Any reference? Cheers, Jamie.
Anyone?
The stripe on the back of the spit prop is to mark the blade angle setting station, which is at 70% of its diameter. Its so all the blades are set to the same angle.
Some fo my shots from today. The MK1s are becoming something of a favorite of mine at the moment.

Cheers, Jamie.
I hope you don’t mind me posting a couple of my photos (including a very underexposed one) from this mornings look at N3200.

Cheers, Jamie.
Just for Sopwith, an update piccy.
Nice to see the prop back on, its looking good. Just out of interest are they original Rotol blades or new build? I assume that original Seafire blades are quite rare?
Cheers.
Thanks for all the comments, it is quite a machine. Look forward to seeing more of it throughout the year.
