Nice pictures :eagerness:
Thanks!
Thanks by738, EGTC and Newforst.
The rate of expansion of Jet2 is very impressive indeed – they’ve acquired a vast number of ‘older’ 737s over the last couple of months.
The interior of HZ-SKI certainly is very, very impressive. Certainly quite a way to fly about!
Here’s another less impressive executive airliner which visited yesterday.

And here are some pics of the interior… http://www.acropolis-aviation.com/pdfs/AA-Airbus-1-with-logo.pdf
Excellent shots – you were very lucky at Finkenwerder, and the Air India at LHR was a very nice catch as well.
Very interesting to see the 727 being used as an office. There’s an ‘interesting’ video of the fuselage departing Southend by road on its way to Denmark… Very nice that they put it back together…
Thanks for all of your comments. Very fortunate at Southend with photo spots – some are incredibly close to the action.
Thanks EGTC, ThreeSpool, Bristol_Rob, ~Alan~ and MSR777 for your comments.
Weather had been unusual – in fact my photos of the Norwegian taking off a week after the Saab were ruined by a snow shower…
I’m a big fan of the BA Saab – looks really good and was a nice surprise when the agreement with Eastern was signed. It was a good catch as it usually returns to the IOM when it can’t get into LCY. Here’s another shot I got of it last year departing LCY in slightly more pleasant weather!

Glad these were of interest.
Thanks Culpano and hope you have a bit more luck with the sun in Tenerife!
Thanks MSR777, Matt-100, Doors4 and EGTC – glad you like them.
Excellent explanation for the dirty A380 Matt-100 – that makes a lot of sense.
Doors4 -unfortunately its impossible to determine the load factors from the CAA statistics as there a few airlines on the LHR-DXB route – but the 77 ooperated flight must have been doing relatively well for it to be upgraded to the A380. Now how will Emirates be able to expand further from LHR – be interesting to see whether they acquire any more slots.
Culpano / tenthije – the Dash 8 is indeed a mongrel scheme – although its not just based on Austrians – rather Qantaslink…
Bluebird Aviation first acquired a Dash 8-100 in Qantaslink colours, and Painted a green triangle over the Kangaroo! The ‘new’ livery stuck and was applied to the Q400s which came from other sources, albeit with minor variations such as the Austrian style blue engines, along with arrows on the nose is percualiar – its like a combination of two ripped off liveries… Only in Africa would they get away with it…
As with inviting Southend – its a great airport – but only when something interesting is moving. there are some great spots – but scheduled traffic is very limited at the moment. Although something interesting for this summer is a Saturday flight to Palma operated by Volotea 717s from late May… But then I suppose you’ve already seen them in Palma!
Typical Russian reliability then! The Yakutia 757 turned up for maintenance a year later than it was originally planned!
There was no room for it outside the old terminal with a Gulfstream and a couple of Airbuses for ATC Lasham. The Q400 parked in about the only space available on the brand new stands just by where the terminal extension is being built – leaving plenty of room for the scheduled traffic.
Thanks MSR777, Bristol_Rob and Culpano for your comments.
The Yakutia is a nice scheme indeed – think its meant to show the Northern Lights on its tail – and nice to see an airline which only has foreign alphabet titles on it.
Culpano – I had noticed that Manchester saw a Yakutia 737 diversion – although I don’t think its any rarer! Its seen on scheduled flights to Dresden all year round – unlike the seasonal charter flights to Palma operated by the 757! 🙂 The Air Astana A320 which visited Manchester did of course come from Southend!
Yes Alan there have been quite a lot of diversions after the past few days. On the 18th there were 11 passenger aircraft diverted from London City, 6 of which arrived in 30 minutes.
There were a couple more on 20th, and to my knowledge another 4 on Monday. I’m just about to start another thread which has photos of a couple of the diverted aircraft/
Thanks for all your comments – was very lucky with the position as the steps were removed when I was there and there is only a cpouple of stands were a similar hot is possible from.
Moggy C – I’ve rep;laced the link as it may have broken so I hope the photo is displaying again.
Thatnks EGTC and 27vet too for your comments. Once you switch to a DSLR its difficult to go back to a point and shoot!
~Alan~ And the 757s are very good stoppers as well – landing on 06 on the old runway I’ve witnessed one turn straight off the old Runway 15! There certainly must be scope for passenger flights with such aircraft – the airport must have it in mind as two of the new terminal stands are designed for up to 757 size… They could have even greater range with full pax. than an easyJet A319….
Thanks ~Alan~, Newforest, and Matt-100. Quite sure the Titan wasn’t taking off from grass, although Southend’s narrow runway makes the impression otherwise! An impressive departure, and I suspect it may not have even been full power – which really accounts for impressive performance on the 757!
The photos hear were taken from a variety of spots, although the Titan one was by the Flying Clubs.
