Then the Runway change at 3pm, so a switch to Runway 27L arrivals. Already the light was becoming golden. A Cathay 777-300ER:

A BA 767-300 looking excellent with the crest. A really nice subtle addition I think:

Another Virgin A340 arrival:

A nice surprise was the Twinjet A319 CJ, G-NMAK:

Followed by another great A330, this time from Air China. A bit grubby though!

And finally a Kuwait Airlines A340-300, a nice end to an excellent day with some perfect light!

Thanks for looking through and I hope these are of interest.
Seem to have posted this thread in the wrong forum by accident, perhaps why i couldn’t find it again!
Thanks EGTC and Newforest for your comments, would certainly be excellent to see C5-GAF fly again!
Yes Hello went bust a couple of weeks ago, and the aircraft is at Southend for maintenance and storage on return to the lessor. I is parked on the new terminal stands owning to lack of space elsewhere as ATC Lasham are very busy at the moment.
Thanks again Culpano, the Air Astana Embraer was a great catch even for Southend. Though the aircraft type was considerably rarer than the airline, Air Astana A320s and 757s have been commonplace at Southend for maintenance.
Thanks Culpano, it was well worth standing in the freezing cold wind for a couple of hours for!
Thanks EGTC, and yes the unpredictable and interesting movemnts does make Southend a very interesting airport to frequent.
A couple, more from today, unfortunately taken early morning when conditions weren’t great.
The BBJ, N92SR which I have been chasing, conveniently parked at the end of the terminal stands:

And another arrival, a Rossiya A319 for maintenance.

Once again thanks for your compliments Alan!
I’m slowly closing in on what I have missed. Here;s a snap of the Hello Airbus I luckily caught (just) whilst it was being re-positioned to the new terminal stands:

Many thanks EGTC. With a bit of luck there should be some even more interesting catches to come…. 🙂
Many thanks ~Alan~! 🙂
Thanks for all your comments. Certainly nice to have some more interesting regional aircraft at Southend, if only for a couple of weeks before OLT stops for a while…
I’m afraid the Brussels 737 is actually OO-VES MANAIRPORTMAD!
Alan – It probably was the Fokker you’ve seen on departure. Unfortunately there has been a bit of drought of 727 movements, the last one was December last year. 🙁
An incredible set Culpano, both in quantity and quality. The Russian stuff and Voltea 717 are especially nice. A very fruitful holiday it seems.
Thanks MSR777. Culpano and EGTC for your comments. Had a lucky run this week at Southend, so I probably won’t get anything of interest for another month…
MSR777. I agree the Nesma Livery is very smart, but as far as I am aware they don’t fly to the UK, so it was just a lucky maintenance movement on Southend, as it spent just over a week at Southend on delivery after arriving from Mexico via Halifax too.
Thanks 27vet for the technical explanation. If it is ‘almost’ as good as paint, it is interesting why it is not used more commonly (having said that perhaps it is, but it is difficult if not impossible to tell).
usaf2103, think they still do have the 732s in the fleet. Can imagine that flying on them would be an interesting experience. I assume this 737 will be replacing one though.
And one more from today (doing very well this week for Southend). This time I had a little bit more luck with the sun (just). The subject is a Skywork Dornier 328 parked on stand after having made an emergency diversion to Southend whilst operating a flight between London City and Bern the previous evening with smoke and a strong electrical burning smell in the cockpit.

It certainly made a very nice photo between the rain showers!
Great link MSR777, for such a small airline LAM have had quite a varied fleet. Excellent stuff.
Think you’re quite right about the transfers ~Alan~. I do wonder how well they would last compared to paint, probably not long in comparison I think!
