    Hi Serj

Best time to apply for a ramp job would be between now and end of February. There’ll be a lot of recruiting, interviewing etc starting soon so I’d say look everywhere. They tend to start people in March, temporary contracts until September and if you’re really good, they’ll keep you on or give you an extension.

Servisair, Swissport, MAN Handling, Jet2 will all be recruiting. Jet2 already are I think, just go on their Jet2 Jobs website and apply online. I used to work at Premier Work Support in Heathrow and were good, gave interview quickly but just took them ages to sort out references, airside pass etc. If none of these companies get back to you after two week, ring them up. They deal with a lot of candidates.

It’s fine if you don’t have much experience, I never had any experience when I got my first job as a ramp agent at Servisair MAN at 18 yrs old. Just put on your CV all the skills they look for (team player, able to lift, excellent communication, quick and efficient worker, quick learner). Obviously you’ll need a driving license with no more than 3 points, but sometimes they make an exception.

Manchester Aiport Jobcentre always have a job fair around this time of year where you take your CV, fill out a few details about you and they’ll sit you down with a Menzies/Servisair staff and see if you’re up to the job.

    Good luck! 🙂

They arrive early morning, spend the day over at the BMI and BA hangars, then move back to the terminal later in the day to board passengers and fly back to SA.

I swear they must be ghost planes, I’ve never seen one arrive in the early morning. Thanks for clearing it up though, now I can sleep soundly at night 😀

I’m not staying there. I’m parking up at BAA staff car park E, and its apparently next to the Jury’s Inn, so I used that as an example 🙂

The service originates elsewhere and stops at various places, but Hatton Cross is right next to the Jury’s Inn so it’s the logical place to get it from. It’s fairly direct to Heathrow Central from there.

P.S. You actually created this thread in the hope you’d have an appropriate moment to use the line “don’t wanna be late for work”, didn’t you? 😉

Ahh right, someone told me Hatton Cross was a 20min walk from the hotel.

lol I have no idea what you mean!

If you wander to Hatton Cross station (2 minutes walk from the Jury’s Inn) and get the 285 to Heathrow Central it’s free, and they run every half hour before 6am. 🙂

    Paul

Does it only stop at Hatton Cross Station? Dont’ wanna be late for work!

Thanks for the info, much appreciated 🙂

How did LHR make it there? THe mind boggles…

These Asian airports really are very well maintained and pleasant to the eye, no surprise to see them there

According to the managers, Aviance at LHR doesn’t stand a chance of seeing out 2010, as they’re likely to fold.

    BEST:

Heathrow T2 – Lots of good shops, viewing areas, and not too crowded.#
Manchester T1 – Very spacious, good viewing area again, very fast security procedure
Amsterdam – Very adventurous place to fly out of, and the only McDonalds I’ve seen at an airport so far.

    WORST

Leeds/Bradford – Just very depressing, everythings small and no place to wander about.
Jeddah – It’s like a prison, and they always look for ways to fine you
Mumbai – Boring, smells, and staff are extremely rude.

    Brilliant shots, love the Virgin!

I’m overdue a spotting trip to LHR. If anyone’s around this weekend and next, give us a shout 🙂

bmi are quite shoddy at times.

Very rude and lazy F/As with dirty accents who have seemingly forgotten the concept of customer service, and even basic manners.

    Hi Deano

I’m also getting the same problem as Rob, but a little problem. When I go into color and appearance, how do I select the Vista theme? It just comes up with random colors and if I want it to be transparent.

    Thanks

It’s 32bit. Just been reading of other peoples experiences of FS9 on Vista, and it’s giving me second thoughts. FSX is out of the question, really is too slow
