    Yes, funny, isn’t it? 😀

The Russians are a bit behind when comes to marketing of weapons. They still need to learn our capitalistic tricks.

Ok, maybe they haven’t done a simulation, but look at this, they ‘ve done it in a way that even a small child can understand it!

Why make a marketing video in Russian
Is the Ru-AF not so excited/interested in the program?

Is this like the combat ex. nations do with n number of limitations to achieve the desired results?

Has sukhoi created such simulations? (seems obvious they must have done them, everyone is after killing their planes in simulations), What were their results?

If you do want 5th gen, the PAK Fa is the best bet. And since you pursue to acquire always more know-how in the aircraft industry to build your own aircrafts, being partner of the Russians in the PAK Fa is the more logical way to go.

Why not start developing the domestic option with realistic funds and support and invest into developing the people and the facilities they need.

Say the government decides to invest into the PAK-FA program and develop a variant for the AF, and in return they get the technology of a super duper 5th gen fighter, so what?

We still need to develop the next generation which requires skills to innovate , what steps forward towards that goal will we take through this decision?

PAK-FA on the other hand is the only option India has to get a 5th generation fighter of utmost quality from a reliable partner.

If need be, they should give up on MRCA deal, finsih LCA and get PAK-FA. There is no need for dated (in the case of mRCA) western equipment. India needs the best and that is PAK-FA. (well at least since F-22 is out of production)

F-35 may be, as long as its flying inside india against the naxals, or may be chambal ke daku. 😀

Why give Russia the money to develop a fifth generation fighter?

If they end up developing it alone, just buy it when its available.

Infact, why have a fifth generation fighter at all, the AF wants a FGFA, screw them, all the opposition they have can be handled well till 2030 to 2040 by the MMRCA contenders, lets face it, PAF is not getting a 5th G fighter and PRC is still stuck on developing J-10 variants.

The government needs to realize that the money that is with them should go into realistic threats, cause there are a million ways to spend it better.

5th generation fighter should be put on hold till there is a real program around the neighbourhood, and then just buy whatever options avialable Russia or the USA, not now, no way, no money should leave for foriegn shores.

Clearly, no country wants an adversary to develop more capable Weapons.

Which, is common sense with all do respect………

US government think of China as a military adversary?

And its not a question of what the US wants, i am saying that at this stage they simply do not care about PRC developing aircraft carriers, atleast not enough to diplomatically persue Russia/Ukraine/Brazil or Frace to stop providing any help.

Sorry, it is extremely naive to believe the US or France would want China to train Naval Pilots with Brazil…………Regardless, what is said in the public.

    How is it naive?

i am not stating they would want PLA-N to train with Brazil, i am saying they do not care.

If we look at all the things that are said in the public they give the impression of the thought process of the government.

Why not Russian……………Especially, considering China will likely operate a sister Aircraft Carrier and similar equipment.

They dont have the room to train them.

I take it that China is going to pay a high price for Brazils Cooperation?

Who knows what they will pay, hey they got plenty of money.

Well, I don’t think China is so interested in Basic Flight Training. As it trains thousands of pilots yearly. Its main focus would of course be. Carrier Flight Operations and Carrier Quals. So, Chinese Pilots would want to operate Skyhawks and Trackers.

Its not like they have any options.

BTW I am sure the USN and French Navy would not be exactly happy with Chinese Pilots. Operating off a former French Carrier and flying in American Made Aircraft……….just a though! They would also have access to French and American Equipment. Regardless, it just makes the process easier for China to learn Carrier Operations. While, neither can stop China from acquiring Carriers or Naval Aircraft. That doesn’t mean they want to make it easier though.

France would be more than glad if they are able to market and sell their military equipment to China.

And USA does not seem to care, their admirals were going around saying “we will help them build one”, or something similar to that.

Plus really there seems to be no diplomatic tension between the two, the new government in USA seems to be friendly with them.

Well i asked the same thing, who will PLA-N train with.

Brazilian navy would be just about the only navy with a AC in service that would be avilable to help out PLA-N, just could not think of this before.

how many trainers and fixed wing planes are available with the Brazilian Navy on the sao paulo?
Do they (pilots of the brazilian navy) still utilize the USN training facilities?

Is that wise on the part of Brazil??? As it gets much of its Carrier Equipment and Training from France and the United States. I doubt either would be happy with Brazil assisting China with its Carrier Development…………..

USN or the MN do not seem concerned with PLANs aircraft carrier ambitions.

Brazil is not selling any European equipment to PRC so this can not come back to bite the French in Europe.

PRC should consider trying to remove the sanctions placed on it now that they control a lot of the worlds money and market, things would have become a lot easier.

How much light? Even a spotlight wont be enough & I guess thats obvious.. as they say, you can lead a horse/mule etc to water but you cant make it drink.

Just keep some water in a bucket in front of them and let them be, aftersome time they drink on their own, if they are thirsty that is.

If that does not work, and the horse/mule is just hell bent on dehydrating (suicidal horse/mule, dont believe me well mr. you just go ask the UN peacekeepers):

Combine 1 teaspoon salt with 2 tablespoons of applesauce. Put it in a syringe or de-worming tube and shoot it in the mouth. The salt should stimulate thirst.

    Or

Try getting 1 tablespoon of corn syrup into the mouth. It will coat the tongue and compel the horse/mule to drink.

Its a two stage missile, does the stage seperation present a problem in short range engagements?

There was talk that they will make the missile compatible with the Mk-41 launcher, what modifications are required to do so (make the missile compatible with other launchers)? Will that require consulting from US firms?

    Type 69
    Type 80

Also very popular with LTTE along with some of other small arms (mortars, grenades etc.), it is a strange world we live in.

    1. The C-130 J’s ordered are for the IAF- its presumed they will be farmed out by the IAF as necessary but will not be in other services yet.

They dont come cheap – the general perception is that the IAF has paid through their nose for them & the IAF may procure more only once the initial batch earns its operating spurs.

They have been procured in line with a special requirement for Special Ops capable aircraft.

The C-130Js IAF ordered came with a lot of equipment for special missions, they could be ordered without those suites for the paramilitary forces.

The special mission equipment must be worth a good part of the costs.

    2. The MTA or MRTA is not intended for the same requirement per se, but to supplement and complement the An-32 fleet in IAF service.

The oldest ones will be retired while the overall fleet still will soldier on for some years to come with engine upgrades, airframe overhaul and an avionics modernisation.

The MTA program has – finally- been funded by the Russian side. HAL refused to commit funds till the financing on the Russian side was cleared up.

Its not yet clear whether the “Russian financing” will actually be a re-adjustment of Soviet era Indian debt.

Will they transport the same number of troops to the same distance using the same airfields?

    3. The MTA is not just going to be a transport………

It will be a transport plane in the major role it will play right?

    4. The key thing of course is if HAL and their Russian partners realise the importance of speed in such matters.

Given the current orderbook enjoyed by HAL, its equally likely they & their partner may take their own time with the development, after the protracted negotiation to begin the project itself… and end up giving further easy wins to international OEMs like Dassault/ ATR/ Embraer (for the MPA) or Embraer/Dassault etc (for the ELINT etc) roles.

So the need of the forces for transport planes will not be met by MRTA?

The paramilitary forces need transport capability of their own, i suppose post in Mumbai Ministry of Defence, some of the forces might be given priority and the procurement procedure will be completed faster to meet their demands.

How does the timeline work out here?

When will the F-35B be available for export?

The proposed IAC program, if its implemented to what is suggested as its limit, will have 3 carriers with the last one commissioning between 2022-2025, the first one between 2012-2015, the second one between 2017-2020.

The MiG-29K orders for the first IAC have been placed (have they?), they were covered in the option for extra planes in the original contract for the MiG-29K.

“The Border Security Force has expressed interest in one or two C130J planes,” Heath added.

There is indeed a huge demand for transporters of similar size with the paramilitary forces, some C-130j have been ordered, now that the setup has to be raised for them, they can serve with other services.

If i am correct the transport aircraft development between Russian and Indian firms is supposed to target similar requirement, hence the demands of several branches of the armed forces could be delayed.

She is also making serious inroads to Indian power base of South Asia especially Indian ocean.

To prevent aggression there is a need for India United States and Japan (possibly Australia once the Sinophile is off power) to form an alliance. Such an alliance will keep China in check and prevent future wars.

China is more likely to be aggressive towards some one who is weaker than her, like India or Japan or Australia but not against an alliance of these countries and the U.S which would be more than a match for her.

The inroads you talk about are diplomatic and economic(Sri Lanka, Myanmar etc.), they have to be responded to through similar measures, not by some military alliance.

As far as India is concerned look at Pakistan’s military structure almost all their major programs(tanks, planes, ships) are funded my PRC, along with generous assistance in their nuclear program, that should keep us contained for a long time.

Besides you over estimate PRCs military power and territorial ambitions, it certainly does not need a military alliance to counter.

A direct military conflict (limited or not) is impossible now, the military presence in the mountainous regions is a good enough deterrent, besides PRC achieved its goal in (Aksai Chin and the part gifted by Pakistan), and Arunachal Pradesh was never on its agenda, that place is impossible to occupy its cut off from Tibet for a very big winter season.

He said the system is built on the principle of “open architecture”, allowing countries buying it to use parts made at home, in the same way Japan and South Korea did.

Those countries, the two top US allies in Asia, have naval destroyers equipped with Lockheed’s high-tech Aegis system, which is designed to track incoming missiles and shoot them down.

“A similar model could work in India if that’s what they are interested in,” said Rushton, who was in Singapore for the IMDEX Asia 2009 maritime defence show, which opened Tuesday.

What is he talking about, Project 17A?
