Oh lord, that noise…. The microphone really isn’t capturing the full affect!
Something rather apt is now needed to describe the noise of the things!
I miss flying in them as much as I don’t miss flying in them. They are an experience.
The Telegraph is reporting that the Hunter seemed to struggle to get off of the ground.
Credible? I have no knowledge of the take off requirements for the Hunter.
A very interesting project!
If I have read it right about the propeller rotations, they will rotate inwardly to each other? What stall conditions does this configuration alleviate? How did outwardly rotating propellers work for the P38 but not this? (Or did it work for the P38?)
Cheers.

I’ve just had a look at it. It’s in remarkable shape visually. The panel between the wings is a bit crumpled, an aerial is bent and that is all I can see. I’m ignoring the state of the prop. Other than that it looks sound. I guess the landing was as gentle as it looked.
I haven’t got any photos as I don’t have permission, nor do I feel it right to take them just yet.
Nicely done. Hopefully the owners can get it fixed without any major issue outside of the engine rebuild.
It must be pretty exasperating for the two pilots/ owners. That aircraft is often tinkered with on regular occurrences. I think the engine has been rebuilt or such like before. I recall seeing the nose covered over before, with a shattered prop hanging from the wall in the hangar.
Certainly one for the bucket list!! :highly_amused:
Quite correct Moggy, the owner of the titch normally flies a Cessna Citation.
He holds ratings for the Cessna Caravan and also the Beech 99 as well I believe.
The P40 is a beauty!
Because he is probably curious and curiosity forms the basis of a lot of enquiries on this forum. If you’re going to ask him that now why not ask of it anyone who has a question.
What a miserable response.
Which is precisely why my participation on this forum in 11 years has been so low. Some of the members and their responses to queries are appalling at times.
A bit of a shock to read this. I’ve worked on G-RAMY a couple of times.
RIP.
More photos here. Looks like it is an ‘open’ group. Seems that the fire crews removed the cowling(s)

Lancaster seen over Wansford (passing over Sibson airfield) at low level, heading South East.
They’re also horrendous to be inside of! They’re very noisy. Thankfully my exposure each time has only been about 20 minutes.
What is PIGY and Oscar Lima up to now? They’ve lost their Invicta paint schemes I see. I have been told that they were being used by a particular regiment over in Hereford.
Never ceases to amaze me at just how odd and ugly looking a PAC is.
Lovely photos. 🙂
How does the Wildcat start? Is it electrical or does it still use a cartridge system? Or am I getting confused with another type of radial?
I thought it was an advert for ‘The Simpsons’.
