Well “Great Britian” can be taken in a number of way,as it has been. From a colonial point of veiw i don’t see this as true anymore. On a Domestic stand i dont see us as great either- the lack of money in health, law, schooling etc as mentioned earlier. But instead or so i feel, all the money set aside for domestic use has gone into help people that arn’t part of Britian, i.e all the immigrants that over here and apply to live here without offering us anything in return. This does go deeper but i wont go there.
In terms of trade and worldwide ecomonics (electronics, sciences and all that sort of stuff) i say yes Britain is Great in that respect as we work and trade with nations world wide.
Great Britian in a world wide sence, yes i believe we are as we have dealings with nations far and wide that commerce with us etc, including the US- which is a very powerful nation, it still operates with Britain warmly and happily
Great Britain in a militeristic sence, i would say we are great but not in the way people would think. I think we are more of a help people out sort of force now that has become very multirole. We have enough resources to look after ourselves if we need to.
In my opinion though we dont need to have all these top notch weapons, have the most men as the world isn’t what it was, now nations( or certainly most) get on well politically, therefore military force is stept down due to the peace that exists. It has to change now due to terrorism now, why have so many tanks, guns etc, when in fact money can be put into intelligence and such like to track terrorist activites. This is what is happening to the Royal Navy now with its Astute submarines, and the Type 45’s which have multirole tasks which are alot more advanced and efficient to what we have now.
So Great Britain to me in a military sence is a nation that is possibly setting an example to the world.
And on a side note i wouldnt say our forces are crap at all, we might not be have the best euipment, or have enough of it but we do very well with what we have. The RAF isn’t exactly on the cuting edge of technology i feel but the US army and airforce said our Pilots were invaluable in Afghanistan as they ofen did a better job than there own airforce could do, and that we did precisely what we had to, at the precise time required
Thats all i can produce at the moment, its late and i’m tired, and my brain doesnt want to know if it involves thinking 🙂
