RE: Airport pic of the day- 18/03/02
A shot taken at the Delta hub – Atlanta Hartsfield, I believe. Saab, is your Avatar the picture of the 146 doing a ‘fly by’? If so, then I can see it.

RE: Pic Of The Day-15/03/02!!
This photo was took at either Madrid or Barcelona – But it was certainly one of the two big Spanish airports. That A320 is well below the glide slope, and I’m surprised it didn’t cause one or two cars to have a ‘slight’ accident….I’m sure those drivers must have felt their vehicles shudder due to the vortex.
RE: Location of BA 747classics
Yep, European have took on five as mentioned above. The other are slowly finding their way to the desert I’m afraid….Not sure how many have gone Mojave, but they’ve already started flying them out to the States.
RE: **The Last Challenge For A While**
Air Canada Canadair Regional Jet?
RE: Another challenge call, from me!
Oooops, I think number 4 is actually an MD-80 – Not an Avro RJ….
RE: Another challenge call, from me!
OK, my turn to have a go:
1. 737NG (-600/-700/-800/-900 share the same cockpit)
2. MD-11 (or could be an MD-10)
3. 747 classic (-100/-200/-300)
4. Avro RJ (not 100% on this one)
5. 747-400
6. Airbus A330
7. Airbus A340
8. Concorde
9. TU-154 (or perhaps a 134?)
10. ERJ-145
Well, how did I do then? C’mon, I can take it!!
RE: St. Paddys Day
I can’t think of many airlines with green liveries, JMC has already been mentioned….I must admit to having a soft spot for the Aer Lingus livery – It looks great on their A330 fleet. As for that other well known Irish airline (Ryanair) – Their normal livery is a little on the boring side, but their logo jets look good. I flew on the Jaguar 737-200 a while ago, on one of my Dublin excursions. I also like the Hertz 737-200 and the Kilkenny one too.
RE: Saab 340
Had the Saab 2000 made it’s debut 10-15 years earlier, I dare say it would have sold more. Sadly, the Saab 2000 came onto the scene at a time when the new regional jets such as the CRJ were becoming popular – That little Candian jet has done more for short haul domestic air travel than most people give it credit for, along with the ERJ-145.
Great shame about the Saab machine though – It is a nice little turboprop, with some state of the art systems onboard.
RE: Pseudonyms
Well, I came up with my user name in the space of 5.2 seconds – I wanted something short, which was aviation related. V1 of course is the take off decision speed which pilots call out when doing their roll towards the skies…
RE: Monarch New Livery-Picture
A makeover is long overdue for Monarch – These new colours seem quite pleasant, especially compared to the likes of JMC and the awful TUI livery that Britannia has adopted. Talking about the new BY livery – I saw one of their 757’s departing from BHX earlier this week, freshly painted in the horrific blue hue – The red titling looks truly awful too. So, these leads me to ask the following questions to the people that came up with this so called new livery:
Q1. Are you colour blind?
Q2. Have you ever taken any recreational drugs in the past two years?
Q3. Did you like the Korean Air livery so much you tried to copy it?
Q4. Did it take you 40 seconds to design the livery, sketching the original concept on the back of a matchbox?
Q5. Were you trying to draw fire away from the hated JMC colours, taking the title of “Worst airline livery ever” from them too?
Q6. Are you over the age of 12 years?
At least Monarch have tried keeping their livery faithful to the original brand.
RE: VC10 OR 707
VC-10 all the way. The 707 may have had the greater range, but the VC-10 could operate fully loaded out of airports which the 707 could not even dream of. The Vickers aircraft was specifically built for hot ‘n’ high airports, if only to serve the old BOAC ‘Imperial’ routes into Africa. The VC-10 is also a much better looking aircraft than the 707.
RE: First bmibaby aircraft painted
I’ve seen far worse liveries – It is better to see it in the ‘flesh’ though – Photographs often don’t do colour schemes justice.
RE: More UK news
PIA flights to Birmingham will resume on 31/3/02, using twice weekly A310’s from ISB. These flights are now loaded onto the resevation system, and passengers can now book seats on them.
RE: A Nice pic of a ugly plane!
The A300-600ST Beluga – Superb machine. These have replaced the old Guppy aircraft that were used to ferry large volume Airbus parts between the consortium’s various plants. I think Airbus have built five of them so far, and they are really impressive aircraft. A real favourite at major airshows too…
RE: Birmingham Airport Developments
Yep I remember Community Express – they didn’t last long. I also remember Highland Express and it’s sole 747-100 (they lasted nine months!)
As for COV – A new building to cater for biz jet passengers has recently been completed. Not many passenger flights depart from COV, though cargo flights are frequent. You’ll see the odd British European Dash 8 performing crew training too. COV is a great place to see the old a/c types – It is the HQ for Atlantic Airways. All in all, most movements are light aircraft (COV is home to the odd flying school).
Hope this helps.
