Mhm. I think it’s interesting that the F-15E over Afghanistan, coming from Qatar, and covering I’d say around 2800nm tour/retour fill up four or five times during one mission. Of course they fill up early to have enough on-board fuel to make it to friendly soil, but still this is only around 700nm max between refuellings.

I got this figures from a media briefing presented by Boeing on F 15 Silent Eagle: http://www.flightglobal.com/blogs/the-dewline/2009/03/f-15-silent-eagle-media-briefi.html At page 11/20 here is the combat radius of a straight F 15E with conformals and the (reduced) combat radius of the new Silent Eagle with the AMRAAMS squized in the conformals.

    This is doubtfully with a T/W of 0.84 to 1.04 and only Mach 1.67 for a F-35A.
A sustained turn capability of 4.95g at Mach 0.8 and 15,000 ft is not really good.

I see that you continue to compare the F 35 with a clean Rafale/Gripen. Yes, those little planes offer a superb performance… in an airshow. 😀
Load them with even a moderate combat load and see what hapens.

BTW, the max. speed of the production F 35 will be 1.8M.

In Romania? U dreaming. GVMT get what he wants… Hell the bribery in armed forces of Romania is a long lasting tradition. But then again all companies were ready to pay something. Maybe SAAB and EADS are pissed because they already payed for something 😉

Are you so sure LM bribed someone?

Your 50 years of experience matters little, as processing power is the key tool for designing stealth.

That’s why so many air forces operate stealth planes…:p:p:p

    Talk about inferiority complexes…

I guess the problem it’s not the sensor itsefl, but its integration.

Actually, the sensor&procesor are the same; only the pod differs, on the USAF F 15 Cs it will be housed in a modified LANTIRN Pathfinder navigation pod: http://www.lockheedmartin.com/data/assets/mfc/Photos/MFC_IRST-ProductCard.pdf

Reminds me of the first jet-fighterbomber spec sheet: Hitler’s 1000-1000-1000. Meaning 1000 kg over 1000 km with 1000 km/h.

I think these days a realistic assumption for a fighter bomber would be 2000 pounds of PGM one hour out, one hour back, which would be 500nm. Allows for tactical deviations and some burner time. Boeing’s website seems honest.

Regarding all those rather optimistic data above – compare F-15E: 2000nm ferry range on max int/ext fuel. And that thing has legs.

The F 15 E has a combat radius of 1000 nmiles in A-G mission (900 nmiles in A-A) with only the conformal fuel tanks (no EFTs).

Elta’s salesmen have been busy. The same EW system is on F-16I.

Except that the EW suite is made by ELISRA not by ELTA…

The F-35 will allso be “fat”

This “fat’ baby will still outaccelerate a slim Rafale/Gripen…

Even then it’s still behind the Rafale which is hardly surprising given it weights almost 50% more (who cares about front section area? It’s the induced drag that really matters).

No, it weights 30 % more, but have 25% more powerful engines. And the F 35 is indeed behind the Rafale (in radius) but only when the Rafale is with 3 EFTs!!Should we discus what’s the impact of 3 EFTs on the acceleration, manevrability, RCS ?

ah, ok, dynamo, so, let’s see, its range (ferrying, so that means, going strait ahead) is given to be 1200 nautical miles in internal fuel… what does that mean? that means simply that if you go 600 miles, fly for an hour in circles, you won’t even be close to coming back…

So maybe you should do the math, 600 miles one way, 600 miles back, that’s full range on internal fuel, and it just got there eventually fired a missile, turned around and headed for home.

it’s LM who says so, so, did you get it now?

That’s two different mission profiles ! What’s so hard to understand? The source I indicated, shows a comparison between the most modern A/Cs with 3 EFTs and the F 35 without any.

Full missile load is pretty vague, besides there’s no info on the tanks that are carried…

All 3 EFTs, you can bet ! :diablo:

these numbers are the same as those from LM’s JSF presentation to norway… there was a link a couple of pages earlier

You didn’t gt it, do you? The 600 nmiles is with 1 hour of CAP !

The 750 nmiles is with only 1 minute combat (the same for all the other planes in the comparison), i.e. just firing some missiles.
