YS-11 and MU-2 may be used by a number of military organizations, they are indeed civil products. I mean the us army used iphone as translater etc., but I do not think you would listed iphone as military product.

Sad to see those F4 going. They always have one of the best paint jobs.

Is it really safe to hang a bomb like that under the Huey’s center line?

SAM is useful when you are sure you want to shoot the thing down. In peace time you cannot do that so these kind of intercept has to be done with a manned fighter. BTW as far as I know Japan has always maintain around the clock QRA even during the early 2000’s when Russian plane less active.

There was a model of a F15FX at there too. Although there is not really interesting as it looks more less like a F-15E.

When they retire the SR-71 they also said the job can be done by satelite. After the first gulf war and the ever-going North Korean nulcar issue, the SR-71 was brought back in 95 as planes still proved to be more responisble to urgent need.

F-1 is gone completely and F-4 starting from this year. 8th squadron for sure will change from F-4 to F-2 by next year. But since the deicision for the replacement for F-4 has been delay by a year it is unclear what will happen to the other two squadrons. The RF-4E are supposed to be replaced by modified F-15 but the actual schedule is unclear.

I think it should be mentioned that 8th hitkotai has start the process of changing to F-2. By 2009(?) they should be an F-2 unit. And appearently even in their f-4 days, not all of the Phantom has the blue paint scheme. Some of the Phantom retained the grey color scheme. As of now, there has been some sproter report saying that all the Phantom of the 8th hikotia are now painted in the grey color scheme only.

What do we know about the proposed upgrades to the JASDF F-15 Fleet?

Six has been delivered so far. 20 has been approved in this finansal. This is an incredibly slow project. By the time there is a significant number of these upgraded F15, the AAM4 would be an old weapon already.

For what ? General support fighter role? F-4EJKAIs perform similar missions to F-2S now . What is the point of procuring a short term expensive fighter asset?

I am not sure has this point out before. Actually only the F4 of the 8 sqn is a strke unit and they will be replaced by F2. 301 and 302 sqn are actually air defence units. I am not sure why people though the Japanese wants a strike aircraft.

    Treining Support Ship ATS-4202 Kurobe?

Actually it should testing ship Asuka. The antennas on Kurobe are not FCS but for controlling target drones only.

It sounds like a failure of leadership to me.

Commercial crews are entirely capable of keeping ships at sea for far longer than modern naval crews. Commercial ship owners would never tolerate the sort of behavior that modern navies seem to.

It is time to hold naval crews to a higher standard.

In the private sector, we just live with the problems related sharing equippments. It does not mean those bosses (e.g. ship owners) who sit in their office and do not need to go through all those trouble down on the shop floor actually have solutions to any of those problems.
