The automatic target designated feature is quite good
Look at F-35 overhype since the 90’s for clues..
F-35 over hyped? in what universe?
going to any comments section of F-35 news you will see a lot of amateur bashing it with their “knowledge”, “wisdom” from APA and defense issue blog
There was no end to what the F-35 should/could do back in the days.. which ended up today with what it can’t do.
It missed the sustained G and acceleration metrics but then there are alot of features people thought F-35 dont have, but turn out it do such as
_ Carry towed decoy
_ Have internal jammer that seperate from APG-81
_ Having IR reduction measures
_ coating working at wide frequency range not just X band
_ Powerful radar (previously thought to be weaker than APG-79)
_ Carry Meteor
… etc
^ F-14 is ugly as hell
No, they’re just different aircraft, the first one’s a C, the second a B model.
The angles are different on the other wing pylons aswell.
Are you sure about that ? as far as i know , their wing pylon between different version is the same
I feel like the canted pylon would have horrible effect just like the canted pylon on F-18 E/F , basically semi deploy air brake
Not wingtip modification. The pylon was changed probably due to vibration or separation issues, this was pretty early on I believe. This is the manufactuer of the F-35 pylons with the different types:

I cant seem to find information regarding wing tip pylon modification there , Google Fu doesnt seem to help either
So do they change the pylon from canted downward to horizontal or other way round ?
When was the first pic taken? The outer pylon did get modified, current pylon closeup:

here is their respective taken date :

F-35B Aces First Release of a UK Paveway IV Bomb Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland June 19, 2015

Can you give me the source regarding F-35 wing tip modification ?
I think that probably is visual illusion at work, because 2 aircraft have their nose at different AoA
Nahh , one of them parallel to the nose ,the other isnt
Is it just me or the angle of outer wing pylon changed?

^ Can i see the patent? A bit curious , but if i recall correctly, isn’t spiral pattern require spiral antenna?
The YF 23 Widow has lots of engine fan exposed yet it had better stealth than the Raptor
No it isn’t
F-35 flares are 1″ x 1″, too small for chaff (IIRC).
I don’t think the F-35 has chaff for a simple reason: If the radar/missile is good enough to track a VLO target, it ain’t going to be fooled by simple chaff, hence the decoy.
Some chaff is small enough to be fitted into aircraft wing tip

Spring loaded pop-up head positioned on spine behind cockpit would be my choice.
Such as :

F-35 released 18 flares in this gif

Btw, what if those flares stacked not only side by side but also vertically?
I did not pay attention to this before but why do cruise missiles like Harpoon, RBS-15, JSM, Storm shadow all use turbojet engines instead turbofan? they dont need high speed and doesn’t need high altitudes so what the point?
MTCR- that is why.
MBDA wants to export storm shadow. Therefore the range is as stated. MBDA states range at low level flight to dodge the 300km range limits of MTCR.
JSM get 300 nm range and still available for export
