    The Limits of Stealth

sound like the author of that article just basically copy and paste from Air Power Australia , there are 2 main mistake
    1) F-35 and F-22 are not really that much different in size , to say one only effective at X band while the other effective at all band is quite bull****
    2) while L band wave are less affected by RAM , with Same power , antenna size a L band radar will have much much shorter range than an X-band radar , the small L band on the wing will pretty much useless in increase detection range again stealth aircraft
3 ) lower RCS improve jamming effectiveness too , reduce RCS by 50 % will only reduce detection range by 6 % but will make jamming 50 % more effective , reduce the burn through range by 25%

Yep, The A2G Brahmos versions is slightly lighter, around 2.500kg each.
They are working on a newer Brahmos II stick, it might include improved range.

IAF would have to increase the strenght on their MKI’s airframe.
But the Hellduck with its much higher wing loading should do this quite easily. Its more a matter of upgrade the inner wing hardpoints the the right standards(cables, software etc).

can it carry 2 KH-31 on the intake + air to air missile while carry 3 Brahmos ??

    No i’m not.
But if not the Yakhont, then perhaps some newer and smaller sticks.

Teoretical, it should be able to carry X3 Brahmos sticks.

Brahmos is really heavy and big though
holy **** seem like it can

For its class: The Hellduck. It can haul the big sticks and possible three of them.

haha it sure look like a duck , some how reminde me of the F-16
are you sure it can carry 3 yakhont though?

KeyPub at least has several groups – some Stars-and-bars-brains, some Russomaniacs, some China-bots.. there are even India vs Pak or Tyffie vs Raffie elements… the outcome is pretty balanced, in the end… on the contrary, f-16.net is terribly single-sided in that regard..

agree , F-16.net is too single sided , make it very boring cause there are like no arguing at all

    Untrue.
    Su-27:
Limit = Su-27 is limited to M2.35, speeds between M2.15 and M2.35 is limited to 5 minutes.
    Ability = Su-27 can barely touch M2.35.

    F-15:
Limit = F-15 is limited to M2.5, speeds between M2.3 and M2.5 is limited to 1 minute.
Ability = F-15 barely touches M2.25 with standard engine trim, and go slightly above M2.35 with Vmax.

Both would need colder than standard day in order to go faster. F-15 cannot go M2.5 without Vmax even at STD -10C. Test you mention may happen on very cold days, but that is not an indication of performance; 20 degrees colder than STD DAY, a MiG-29 or a Mirage 2k should have no problems going M2.5+ too.

i thought the top speed of them have more to do with thrust vs drag rather than temperature ? ( also at 30-40 k feet i think the temperature are pretty much the same all day )
    what is Vmax ?
why the limit of F-15 seem better than su-27 but it’s ability is worst ?

Growler is the key enabler which allows the F/A-18 strikers to get close enough to an enemy Surface Action Group to employ JSOWs.

JSOW and other stealth missiles probably have 1000 times less RCS than old missiles such as AGM-84 , so jamming will be incredibly effective

You do know those extra fuel tanks aren’t permanent and they can be switched out with other ordnance?

    opps
damm i didnot realize that , so 1 EA-18G can carry 2 HARMs and 2 AGM-84 and use it’s powerful jamming to support them overcome the ship defense ? , seem like a plan .
But i think i have a better one , since JSM is about the same size and weight as JSOW , it also use the same slug size , EA-18G can carry 2 of them per pylon using
Bru-55 ( total of 4 JSM per aircraft + 2 HARMs ) , since it a stealth missiles , jamming will be alot more effective
or you can use F-35 and carry total of 10 JSM per aircraft ( 2 JSM per external pylon using BRU-69/A ) , APG-81 can also do jamming , may be not as good as ALQ-99 though
    like this

The EA-18G can carry any weapon the F/A-18F can carry so I don’t understand why the Growler couldn’t carry Harpoons? The US Navy just doesn’t use the Growler in that role because it doesn’t have to worry about anti-shipping missions.

because that outter station are not rated for weapon as heavy as harpoon , only for small , light weapon like HARMs or AAM ( if you notice the pylon there are smaller ) , the inner station are already for ALQ-99

I feel like this thread should have a poll!

EF-18G with jamming equipment and harpoons wins my vote.

yeah , but i dont know how to make a pool though , btw EA-18G can only carry 2 agm-88 as self defense weapon

just found this , thought it may be very interesting , about the reduction in RCS of Arleigh Burke , DDG-1000 and the effect of that again anti ship missiles + jamming

it seem that a swam of stealth missiles + back ground jamming could be alot more dangerous

    But nuclear.

nuclear explosion on ground have effective radius of about 3-4 km if iam not wrong , so the B-2 have to come really really close to the destroyer , and it may get shot down
