even if NX611 is returned to flying condition, this does not mean that they have to fly her… they would then have the option to keep her at the museum and possibly turn up at a few air shows if they wish to..
At the end of the day it’s the pantons choice, it’s theirs to do with as they wish…
Personnaly I would love to see her fly again, especially with PA474…oh yes, with a couple of spifires & hurricaines too 🙂
Any further news on FM159?
Not really that good a one Avro, if the money supply was ‘endless,’ we could all build every aircraft that ever flew?;)
Thanks for putting a dampner on the mood…
I was just trying to play a small part in the forum and get some idea of what people would like to own, have built & fly……..
well that merlin is upto £840 now !
I agree that as a starting point to a strip-down /rebuild of either aircraft they are woefully inadequate, and rely far too much on photographs, but surely that was never the intention of the authors.
I do agree with that though ! Or you would end up with a massive collection of books just for 1 aircraft !
What I meant was they could have included some photo’s from when the work was done on PA474 & NX611 ie, the stripdown required for the main spar etc.. nothing major just some detailed photo’s !:)
I agree with you, the Haynes manual was made to show people how to do things… The original haynes was based on a complete stripdown & rebiuld.
I got the Lanc one & was expecting alot of technical info etc.. but to avail, not much there !
I’m just suprised that there isn’t a link to youtube yet with a video of it !
well done to all!
it’s definately worth a visit !, you can’t quite beat the sound of those merlin’s firing up !
Steve
Bank holiday weekend – I shall be there !
Has there been any decision made on wether to fly NX611 or is the jury still out on that one?? LOL
BBMF can’t even make it to Sunderland air show ! Yet again the Lanc didn’t show, not that we could see it ‘cos of the fog !
last time I saw it was in 2004 !
well I hope they get all 4 running at some point !
1 is a start, 2 and your half way there ! …
Will this one be following the same sort of process as NX611 ? bringing her back to taxing capabilities ?
I think they should return it to the skies, as said earlier, it’s their Lanc, they can do with it what they want…
But even if she is made airworthy, can anyone honestly say how many flights it would make? I’m sure it would be nowhere near the amount PA474 make.
They may only decide to fly here on special occasions, ie instead of doing a fast taxi, they take off aswell !
If you owned your own Lanc, would you want it to be flying about all year? I’m sure I wouldn’t, but I would like it to fly sometime or another…
nice for some ! Lazy night in eh ?
