Hi all, if it’s any help, I saw the vulcan at Newark do it’s apu, bomb doors and bits moving ! IIRC it was April ish 2006.
Also in 2004 (sometime) I saw a very smokey shak running up at Coventry ! took a lot of getting going ! but worth the effort. Keith.

    Heathrow Lightweights.

This brings back memories of a flight from Norwich to Heathrow during 1969 / 70 in a gardan horizon ! (similar to a cherokee) to collect some radio gear from field aircraft services.
To say the least it was embarracing ! imagine cueing for take off behind a 707 and a VC-10, we almost got airbourne using the exhaust from the jets in front ! but hey those were the days ? please ask no technical questions as i was only ballast (or the only one stupid enough to go along ? ) keith.

If this was the aircraft, i have records of it being written off in a landing accident at RAF Changi, Singapore on 25 October 1950. Hope this can be of help ! Keith.

    Carvair Connections ………..

Answer to a small query in this thread, this afternoon i drove to HALESWORTH
and looked at the carvair / dc-4 nose ! yes it is still there ! looking very sad i thought, in ned of T L C ! would look much better cleaned, painted in appropriate colours and inside a museum somewhere ? just my small opinion !
Have photo’s on my phone camera, will try to attach with this ! if not successful may try later ……. Keith

I remember them well, lived at stansted while they produced the majority of them there ! If you want the best (in my humble oppinion ) website for all carvair, then visit ….. http://www.geocities.com/anjapaul/index.htm …. enjoy !
