richellis. You can get fairly close …. all the above photos were taken from the Airbase area …. but on the day the Nimrod arrived so it was a little more open !!
If you do a search for ‘Airbase at Coventry’ on this forum you could come up with more photos of the actual Airbase aircraft.
Happy to help !
Keith Newsome.
Just been digging through my archive photo collection and think I may have found a photo of WR963 ? looks like the crew are at a high state of alert :diablo:
Keith.

A few photos from a very memorable day last year ……. Keith.

Once again Thank You all for those nice comments 😀
I don’t know how to say this ….. !!!! But my first view of the Sentinel was from directly below as it did a high fly by …… AND I immediatly thought it was a ….. Gulfstream ????? Almost as excited as Interflug at that time ????
EGTC. Photo below just for you … hope you can read it, I havn’t tried it before posting ??
JB. Yes I saw the white object during PP …. can’t think what it could be apart from a very distant seagull ????

Another view of the “very heavily modified Gulfstream” warts and all :diablo:

JP @ NW !!!!!

Darren. Wow those belugas always astound me ! I get so excited every time I see one, even though, funnily enough, I used to work four days a year at Manor Road and would regularly see them coming and going ?
Supurb photos as always 🙂
Keith.
Oh Dear ! As you say …. Why ? I find it so difficult to understand the mindset of people who need to carry out this sort of ‘trick’ ? and moreso why they need to video it ??? and even more mindboggling ???? they need to post it on youtube ????
Film producers of the future ?? Mmmmmm … maybe not enough A levels for that ?
Proof that the distribution of brain cells is still not reaching all parts ??
Keith :diablo:
Planemike. Phew ! Thanks for that …. the old grey matter still working 44 years later ! and at the other end of that career ??
Keith. 😉
cloud 9. I realy don’t know too much about the process, but as Niel says the empty ‘aluminium tube’ is broken up very crudly with a mechanical digger thingy, loaded onto lorrys and gone ! the last one seemed to only take a couple of days to complete.
TRIDENT MAN. Thanks for that, you know so much more than I, have seen photos of you in a Trident cockpit !
Peter. Well I assume they have removed all of the most saleable parts, maybe what remains is at the end of its ‘timed’ life ??
Interflug62M. Yes I couldn’t agree more about the passage of time, as a very young man at the start of my career (1967 / 1968) I was working on the runway lighting at Luton Airport when we were constantly annoyed by G-AVRL 737 Brittania Airways crew training at almost every opportunity ! I think this was the first 737 to arrive in the UK ?? maybe wrong ??
Keith.
I have been lucky to have captured two of the Nimrods about to make their last touchdown …….
XV232 at Coventry.

XV255 at Norwich.

OK so we are at Vimy now ??

wilag. Yes a nice shining example ! Thank you.
Newforest. Thanks mate, so three commanders must be more than a bonus 😀
stangman. ha ha ! yes I converted it from RAW to JPEG well spotted.
