I find that when you rotate pictures to level the horizon, it blurs the picure. Is it just me?
Skymonster, fantastic shots!
I have a couple of questions. If you don’t mind me asking, what is the going rate for a pilot and an aircraft?
The story about VR-CAN was that it turned up one day and the people who owned it paid the storage money and left never to be seen again. The storage money kept arriving but nobody ever came to see the aircraft and so it remained out on the airfield. Schnozz had a few ideas back in 1991 as to what was inside the aircraft that they wanted to keep well hidden…
You tease, what was inside? I understand it belonged to the Shah of Iran. More info please 🙂
It is now owned by Saicus Air, a cargo airline with one other 737-300 freighter operating from Spain. Changed hands at the turn of the year apparently.
A bold move by the Scottish Executive and one which I agree with. I personally thin that Mr Megrahi was a convenient scapegoat. Too many things didn’t add up for me but that is my personal opinion.
Can I just say for members of the forum from around the world, this decision was carried out by a governing party in Scotland with a minority administration, I personally never voted for them nor many of my fellow scots did either.
They are the governing party for a reason Gary, they won a majority vote in a fair and free election. I also like the way that the UK Government decided to give this issue a wide berth, typical cowardly attitude that we see day in, day out from the Labour led governemnt.
America has such a one sided view of the world, especially thier media and their coverage. Have they forgotten that their Government was guilty of the innocent murder of 290 people on Iran Air flight 655, did they think that this would go un-punished? More than a coincidence I think.

Reference the Fokker, I believe its was grafitti’d as a bit of a joke by the airport fire service, its now used by them as a bit of a training aid. As for Star Air, I’m not sure. They operate for UPS and last night, there were just two containers loaded so I’m not sure how well that goes with load factors although the aircraft may make another stop somewhere else.
Thats the point though, how much do BA really care about their shuttle flights? Not much at all is the answer. First sign of trouble or bad weather at Heathrow and the shuttle flights are all first to be axed! It should be London Airways because they don’t care for the rest of Britain!
I’d welcome flybe with open arms!
Some nice shots on here guys! A few from me, all taken at the Queens Birthday Flypast over London and Fairford 🙂

I fly the Q400 for Flybe. A few things about the route & Q400.
The block time quoted to you is the time off blocks (push back) to on blocks (on stand), airbourne time will vary dependent on wind direction/strength.
I have just flown the NCL-LGW-NCL route on Sunday and on the way down it took us 1hr 10 minutes airbourne, and 1hr 25 minutes block time (brakes off to brakes on)….
Top reply Dean!
I used to fly from Birmingham to Edinburgh every weekend and can vouch for everything said. I thought the Q400 was quieter, more comfortable and just far nicer to fly in the the likes of bmi Baby’s 737’s or BA’s 320’s.
Aircraft aside, I think flybe is a top airline. Very rarely was I delayed, the cabin crew were by far the most polite and overall just a great airline.
I also read a great article in Aircraft Illustrated, not sure if you read it Dean? Anyway, in it they talked about having to charter an ATR72 to operate on the Southampton to Dusseldorf route, it had to be taken off three days later as it was 35 minutes slower each leg than the Q400. Where do they get the speed from on the Q400!
If you haven’t read it Dean, give me a shout and I’ll scan it in and send it to you 🙂
Manx2 here in the UK operate quite a few Let-410’s, along with the Danish cargo outfit Ben Air.
There are hundreds of Eastern types operating in South America, mainly smaller types like the AN-24/26/32 family. However, Cubana operates the IL-96 and TU-204.
There is no real schedule for the Antonovs mate, all tend to be one off ad-hoc charters. The 124’s seem to be ten a penny at the moment, not very often we see the 22 though so it was a nice surprise and catch for the guys that got it.
Stunning shots there mate, firs is the pick of the bunch for me. Thats one weird looking Dak though.
