There is also a pretty amazing project at (I think) Scampton.

Hey B-17 man, his c0ckpit is longer than yours! :dev2:
There is also a pretty amazing project at (I think) Scampton.

Wow that is looking fantastic too. :applause:
Blimey with so many cockpit projects under way, if we’re not careful, with the whole thing going on about the CAA and airshows, we could end up with more cockpit builds than warbirds!
Oh sure! Turn this in to a contest of who has the biggest c0ckpit 😀 Andy

Seriously though, having seen two of these superb projects in the flesh, one somewhat more advanced in the build stage than the other, the attention to detail in either of them, is as good as each others.
And from the pictures of I have seen of Cee’s Halibag and the bit of video shown on Geoff’s Lanc cockpit, shows to me that they are clearly all as good as each other.
Oh sure! Turn this in to a contest of who has the biggest c0ckpit 😀

Ooooh now that is just plain FANTASTIC!!!!
What about Anna Walker? She used to fly a Seafire, but haven’t heard anything about whether she’s still current lately.
She also flew the P-51 Mustang too. I remember that first day very well and Carolyn Grace was there to congratulate her on the occasion.
JP Headed south from Huntingdon towards Caxton just now
I remember being in my back garden when one of the B-17s which had been in Southend for a
paint job, flew over, heading west along the A127. Followed close behind by a P-51 doing barrel rolls.
That was on the afternoon of Monday 26th June 1989.
some photos I dug out taken from the B-25 by Ray

Are you just trying to be difficult?
Mike, difficult…..never!
He just has a slightly acerbic sense of humour sometimes. 🙂
But on this occasion, he was actually quite correct in his query.
How long before someone comments that you mustn’t be so negative, as you’ll upset the staff ?
As for queueing in Joe’s, we’ve found timing is important. Leave it until 1pm and you’ve got no chance.
Don’t jump too quickly as I believe Joe’s will close itself soon for it’s own refurbishment into a…………(now it all may be a red herring, or it may have been the truth)……..a ‘proper’ restaurant.
Family orientated prices then Roobarb ?
As I said previously, Duxford has lost the plot, like a typical big business.
Stuff what the customers really want, we’ll do it this way and charge more .
I appreciate a shiny restaurant is more appealing than a greasy spoon cafe, but if your advertising your attraction as a family day out, it’s not on .
Oh you are so right keefy and on that line brings the question of family food, well you can no longer and it will carry on as such, buy baked beans, which have been off the list ever since the new contractor took over! No Jackets with cheese and beans and no sausage beans and chips for the kids then?????
Indications are that it is the American marked Big Beautiful Doll and that sadly the pilot has not survived.
RIP and condolences to the family and friends.
This will now mean that there has unfortunately been a brace of P-51’s involved in accidents within the last couple of days in the U.S, although thankfully the first one involved no injuries, just a dented pride and a damaged machine.
If it is BBD, it will be ironic that both ‘BBD’s’ either side of the pond will have been destroyed in recent years.
One’s hat is well and truly doffed sir!!!! Very, very nice!!! :applause:
I’d like to see it retain the movie markings.
Whereas I’d just like to see it!
So long as it flies, the owner could paint it in any scheme they choose, although a BofB film
scheme would seem appropriate.
Did anyone get photos of the two large Green four engined aircraft that apparently flew passed the airfield today?
I know what they were but just wondering if anyone did
Tim
My son told me he had seen a pair of C-130’s getting ready to land?
