    Very nice pics!

Do you know who the pilots of the TFC a/cs were?

12 flew as a formation generally but each squadron would have more aircraft to allow for maintenance etc. Total establishment was about 18 aircraft I think I’ve read somewhere but am probably wrong.

    Cheers!

I believe Brian Smith was flying the lead in MH434. Carl Schofield led the tailchase in Peter Teichman’s Spitfire XI.

Just out of curiosity, how many aircraft actually made up a BoB fighter squadron?

Something I’ve always wondered but never found out (though I did spend quite some time looking)

I’d be perfectly happy to pay £200 for two days of entertainment if DX put on a show like Biggin did last week. Simple as. But as it stands, to reiterate, this looks to me like another run of the mill DX show, with a few more Spits and Hurricanes than usual.

I feel bad running down Duxford, but something has to change with the thought and imagination they put into their flying display, so we come away feeling like that £70-odd was worth it.

Double that if you’re doing both days like I am. Legends I don’t mind paying a small fortune for, IMHO its worth it, but this show and the other two IWM organised shows aren’t good value for money.

    £4 for a FL walk I think.

If you get there early you can get down either the LWF Hall end or the superhanger end, but I believe they now see the carpark over the road as the “main” carpark.

I’ve been to every DX show in the past 15-20 years, and there’ve been some classic shows, but in recent years, they’ve come to disappoint me. Compare what’s on show this weekend to what was in the air last week at Biggin – a show that I honestly feel is fantastic value for money, where the organisers actually care about what flies and whether or not the public have a good day.

I enjoy every show I go to, but at DX in particular the rising entry prices, coupled with astronomical fuel prices, leads to a bl**dy expensive day out. No matter how much you come away from a show satisfied or entertained, it still can’t replace the £100+ that you’ve spent.

Makes you wonder whether its to do with Health & Safety, or whether they’ve got something planned with the ‘new’ tarmac they have to play with!

No 109 I take it? 🙁 (not that I really expected one to be honest)

Good question, I don’t remember such a large enclosure in that position. Reminds me of Fairford’s corporate enclosures, but on a much smaller scale obviously.

Heres hoping the weather holds out.

Have many of the Spitfires arrived, or are those us of going on Saturday going to get a nice, busy morning?
