Well thats a fine advertisment for the cutting edge Russian air defence technology that was supplied to Syria!

Some more on the strike that called Irans bluff –

‘Israeli warplanes carried out a strike deep inside Syrian territory on Wednesday, American officials reported, saying they believed the target was a convoy carrying sophisticated antiaircraft weaponry on the outskirts of Damascus that was intended for the Hezbollah Shiite militia in Lebanon. ‘

Turks try Syrian AD and lost israeli upgraded Phantom. It’s not about Russian AD technology, but it clearly show quality of Mossad informations, that attack happened, when SAMs were no more on positions, but packed on trucks in convoy to evacuate them in Lebanon. SA-17 packed on the truck could not do anything against attack, because it is tied on it and without crew.

Maybe Argentina could buy a squadron or two of radar equipped Yak-130.

Nice photos of Mig-31BM cockpits. I was expected that back seat operator have three LCDs, but have only two.

Russia still use SAM-1 and SAM-2 as targets for newer AD systems.

T-50-4 also have the same position for two EO sensors under the cockpit like Su-35 have. It wasn’t present in earlier prototypes.

Mig-31 was also designed to intercept Tomahawk cruise missiles, which are smaller than regular fighter planes. Mig-31BM have R-73 IR AAMs, which could give Mig-31BM some chances against F-35 in dogfight, considering both are not dogfighters. Mig-31BM will most probably try to shot down F-35 in long distance, if not successful, than it will most probably vector Su-35 or PAK FA on F-35.

In Olimpic war Russian Mi-24 did quite well, although Georgian army was protected by very strong air defense, which also have SPYDER, the most modern western SAM system.

It seems Iran try to make Kub to look like Buk. Iran have Kubs in armament and considering launcher have 3 missiles and no radar, it clearly show, this is something build on Kub base. Maybe they redesign missile to looks like from Buk, but I wonder have radar complex looks like.

And a third bort. Looks like BM units finally use the R-73. Good news.

Nice to see Mig-31BM armed. Will it also use R-77 or R-27 missile?

And the timing for selling these is now! When F-35 begins replacing Vipers across Europe (Netherlands, Norway, Turkey, and whoelse that may go in that direction) there will be a lot of 2ยช hand fighters on the market for east european countries to buy (Slovenia, Slovakia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, etc etc etc).

And with what will they pay for them?:diablo:
