Terrorist operate every where and the root cause of ISIS is financing by GCC namely Saudi Funding and tacit support of US.
IF these countries want to stop ISIS they can always stop the source of funding but they dont have any intention to do so.
Its a fight between Shia and Sunni ………Russia getting involved when there is no threat to its security is just fishing in troubled water.
Its better to leave the ISIS alone and let all the other stake holder fight their own battle ………..IF ISIS comes to Russia and bombs the Orthodox Church we can talk.
Exactly. Those terrorists are financed by enemies and ISIS terrorists are also in Ukraine fighting for Kiev junta. Why do you think they are there? To live peacefully with Russia? ISIS sent thousands of their terrorists now in Europe between those migrants. This is not a coincidence, it is planned and financed by gulf monarchies and US together with Turkey to destroy Europe and Russia. Europe is fooled big time, but Russia will defend itself and it is a last time, that Russia start bombing those terrorists that Syria and Iraq could be liberated.

Supposedly over Homs.

Yesterday and today.
Russia is sending Su-24M bombers. I think Su-30SM will fly higher and give protection and use longer range TV guided PGMs, while Su-24M will be the work horse bombing terrorists with LGBs.
When you have such militant/terrorist movement then its natural people would join them , Its not unique to Russia that people have joined ISIS or Taliban or Mujhaid etc
Selling arms to Iraq to fight ISIS and fighting directly are two different thing.
ISIS is as much as a threat to Russia as it is to China or India or Japan , you dont find China or Japan or Vietnam sending troops to fight them.
ISIS is a primary threat to Moderate Sunnis and Shias followed by threat to West , Involving into ISIS mess is inviting direct retribution from them for no rhyme or reason or national interest involved.
At best training or providing arms to Sirya or Iraq is fine nothing beyond that , there are enough Shias and other nationality available out there to fight ISIS
Nonsense. ISIS already operated in Afghanistan and is spreading in Central Asia (clashes in Tadjikistan) and is indirect treat to both China (Xinjiang region) and Russia (northern Caucasus). It is better for Russia and China to destroy ISIS in Iraq and Syria that to battle with those terrorists inside their borders. I hope China will soon join Russia in its fight against islamic terrorism in Iraq and Syria. India should join this fight too. After the fall of Iraq and Syria, India will have ISIS in Kashmir too.
Also, the guy posted some interesting flight hours for legacy birds:
http://forums.airforce.ru/matchast/3582-su-27-istoriya-serii-185/#post121427
For those Su-27s delivered in 1990/91, the total flight hours accrued by 2011 was anywhere from 650-900 hours.
http://forums.airforce.ru/matchast/3582-su-27-istoriya-serii-186/#post121451
More here. Don’t feel like translating every entry, ask if anyone has specific question. Some of the latter has big variation in flight hours- from 600- 1200 – 1500.
They have really low number of flying hours. Those planes could easily serve for another 20 years.
I found the link, no more Su-30M2 to be acquired
And order for Su-30MK2V for Vietnam fill be finished this year too. So production line for this type of Su-30 will be free for next big order, which could be expected from Iran. Irkut will be busy to produce Su-30SM for RuAF and RuNAVY, but KnAAZ line for Su-30MK2 will be free to start production for Iran immediately. Also Su-30MK2 is less advanced, so Russia could sell license to produce them in Iran too.
A few years ago there was talk of a possible MK3 variant for China, but it does not make sense to start building the aircraft before contract is signed. I assume that if there were components left from Soviet contracts they were used for export (China).
China did cancel a production license, but this was for Su-27SK. I assume that Russia still produced many components (engines, electronics…). China probably produced sections of the fuselage. Maybe KnAAPO decided to use components left on Su-30 frames, creating M2 designation. UB variants had flown more in Russian Air Force and were more useful.
Very debatable. When MKI operate abroad they use a special radar mode to avoid exposure. This is by contract BTW.
China developed their own J-16, so they have no need to buy any Su-30MK2/MK3 when J-16 is better.
I doubt it- they explicitly said it will use the same engine as the export MKI and MKM, and Al-31FM1 is hardly a secret engine- it was publicized when it was bought for Su-27SM and IIRC tested on Su-34. No reason to keep the purchase secret for the Su-30SM.
Could be or could not be. What they explicitly say, could be a fog. Russia actually keep Su-30SM in a secrecy. They never say, what real capabilities of Bars-R radar are as it is russified and improved comparing to export Bars-M. Also Su-30MKI and Su-30MKM have a lot of exercises with US and other western air forces, Su-30MKM have even an exercise with F-22. This mean, that capabilities of AL-31FP and Su-30MKI and MKM are well exposed to the West, which is now the main opponent for Su-30SM, so I wouldn’t be surprised, if Su-30SM have actually more powerful engines with wider angles for TVC comparing to export Su-30MKI/MKM to improve agility comparing to those exposed to the West. They need a hiden ace for a case of real combat.
Al-31FM is used operationally in one plane and one plane only and it is not Su-34 or Su-30M2. This is tired myth and i am getting very tired seeing it all the time.
Interesting. Than why is claimed everywhere Su-34 have AL-31FM1 engines?
I must say, if su35 ends up getting another 48 like rumored, that’ll be 96+142+20 (su30m2)+12 (new build su27sm3) – grand total of 270 flankers, basically completely replacing ALL legacy ex soviet flankers. That’d leave little to no room for pak-fa.
Is it then possible some regiments that were up till now operating su24 or mig29 will in the future cross over to su30sm? After all, if the navy replaced its su24 for su30sm, there is a precedent for it. of course, replacing mig29 would mean little to no room would be left for mig35.
In Domna Su-30SM replace MiG-29 regiment.
Any news regarding our MKI blade collector?
I wonder if the ever-ready press in India will inquire on that. I have the feeling that a fascinating story could be lost otherwise*.
*Comment devoid of any irony.
I think they will wipe it under carpet. Too shameful for HAL. It is easier to scream, that Russian engines are of bad quality.
Well, Salut.ru does not show any domestic order for AL-31FM1, so i wouldn’t speculate in it until we see otherwise.
I believe this has to do With cost first and foremost, but also Russia is favoreing the UEC’s state complex over Salut..
IMO STRONK UEC’s lobby.b.t.w., is the AL-31FM1 on Rusoboro export list?
Till now, Russia didn’t export any AL-31FM1 engine, it is for domestic users and is used in Su-30M2 and in Su-34. It is very interesting, that they don’t show any domestic order, than who produce those engines for Su-34 and Su-30M2, which are in serial production?
So if i am not mistaken it looks like this currently assuming they go through with the follow up contract;
60 + 70 + 20 (navy) = 150
Then navy is looking at getting more than 50 in total, so lets say 60. 190 total then… Irkut lobby, STRONG!11!! I like Su-30SM, but i wish the balance was bigger towards Su-35S tbh. Even ignoring any potential increased Navy contracts as of now Su-30SM will be the most numerable ordered flanker frame. Su-34 is very likely to get more contracts in future (post 2018) for Su-34M.
Russia will actually get interesting mix of Su-34, Su-35 and Su-30SM. Considering, that they will buy around 200 of all types, there will be 600 planes. Su-34 is a fighter bomber with excellent air to air capabilities. Su-35 is air superiority fighter with excellent air to ground capabilities and Su-30SM is a multirole fighter with excellent air to air and air to ground capabilities and is somewhere between Su-34 and Su-35 in capabilities. I don’t think Su-30SM is a bad decision. They will have enough dedicated jets in Su-34 and Su-35 as well as in PAK-FA, but multirole Su-30SM will give needed numbers in all needed tasks, be it to increase air defense or to increase air to ground capabilities without the need to expose to much dedicated jets in their not dedicated role. The same multirole job will do smaller and lighter MiG-35.
Defense Ministry expects to purchase another 70 Su-30cm
07/09/2015 11:25:00
If I understand correctly, those 70 new Su-30SM will be for RuAF, what will bring to 130 planes in RuAF, enough to form 5 regiments. Considering, that RuNAVY already ordered 12 Su-30SM and will need 60 to 72 more of them to form regiments in the Black Sea, Baltic and in Pacific fleet, total number could easily be around 200 Su-30SM fighters.
hmm what engine did Su-30SM used ? Similar type as the export (AL-31FP) or newer AL-31FM ?
Actually, only Irkut and Russian MoD knows. Officially it have AL-31FP as export Su-30MKI/MKM/MKA have. But the thrust of those engines is the same as in AL-31F in vanilla Su-27. In 2007 Russia test Al-31FM1 engine with TVC on Su-27LL and considering, that Su-27SM, Su-30M2 ans Su-34 doesn’t have TVC and Su-35 have more powerful 117S engines, there is a good possibility, that domestic Su-30SM have AL-31FM1 engines with TVC. After all, it would not be logical, that Su-27SM and Su-30M2 have more powerful engines than more sophisticated Su-30SM.
