I thought M is Multirole…arent they getting single seater multirole Su-27? SKM?

    For the record:
Guys I donno why admins closed the Chinese export thread…it was a good thread and the discusison would have had a lot more merit if someone had posted some reviews of the Chinese exports from importer. I am not jealous or nationalistic as some drones make me out to be. Its just that when I saw the export thread I was hoping for more info and less photos about the exports. I am really sorry if I caused its premature demise (I really am).

Do says about professionalism of those AFs. Afterall what more one can expect from tinpot dictators.

nope. I perfactly translate words from one language to another and its intended meaning. Mush was differentiating between platforms and avionics.
when Grifo-S7 was radar for FC-1 with western avionic it was called medium tech aircraft now it has become high tech aircraft with Chinese systems. so that myth has already been shattered of West vs East.

offcourse there will be much better systems in the west but Current EF and advance Block 52 are equiped with Slot array radars and no fibre optics. no 3D TVC engine. and EF has already maximized its use of composites.
these all are legacy fighters. no point even considering them for the amount of money. now that is not the case of PAF.

    Gr8 logic  .

Prototype 02 crashed back in 1996, I believe.

That is long time back. Any specific reason ie pilot error or malfunction?

    Looks Good ,

I have not been keeping track of JF-17 , Can some one tell me if JF-17 is an unstable aircraft and does it uses Quadraplex Digital FBW control system.

Also whats the usage of composite on this aircraft ??

    Thanks

As far as i read about fc-1, its an stable AC & uses single FBW, has mostly chinese avionics & radars too are chinese ones. It engine will be ws13, but the test prototype uses rd33[or some varient of the same]. It is said to be BVR enable AC. SD10 is said to be it primary bvr missile.

How can he know these figures ? Only god knows.
The problem of the IAF is that the LCA is LATE.

ATM su30s are being mfg in HAL Nashik factory. So he does know what he speaks about. Afterall he is answerable to GoI.

The figure of 21M USD per LCA came from either of ADA or HAL. And it looks fair value of the quality of product it intended.

If LCA is late in the game, than rafales & eurofighters are even more late in the game. LCA will have fc-1s & f-7 to contend with, while these two ACs will have their backside kicked by JSF. So LCA will have their worth even if they are procured in 2010, while the euro AC looks outdated even now in the above mentioned comparisons. U are as good as ur opposition lets . In India’s case LCA is good enough. This doesnt mean that LCA is better that those two AC, but India doesnt need those in our enviournment. As most of AC in paf or plaaf are dated or comparable that of IAF.

MKI from HAL costs about 44-45 M$ .. ask Harry.. or Rishi at BR… 21-22 is the projected figure for LCA when it enters service.. which I think is a bit less then it would be at the time..

What? I read an article where HAL chief quoted the above mentioned figures.

according to taiwan news paper china has lost atleast 5 su-27/30 and one is said to have crashed into mountains due bad wheather ,cannot confirm it has no news crosses the great wall of china

And none will. Autocratic countries dont let sceret news any ways. What news one gets is really speculation, nothing more.

    What about a 20 millions mirage ?

And what about 21M USD LCAs already in development?

Su30 MKI cost 37.5M USD from Irkut, while acc to HAL chief it cost 22.5M* indian made. So whats the calculation for m2k-5 hal made, any guess?

    It’s obvious.
The mirage is out ….. unless India buy the whole production line 😀

What will India gain by getting that?

It said Snecma had won preferred-bidder status over Russian rival NPO Saturn and U.S. group Pratt & Whitney (UTX.N: Quote, Profile, Research).

Never heard of this development. When was that decided? Any info on that? The last thing heard was GTRE has sought bids.

Any specs of radar in development for LCA? How does it compares to the ones in bisons or other similar ACs.

The French are likely to offer the Rafale with the AESA for which Dassault has roped in two companies, Thales and SNECMA.

From when did snecma was involved in AESA development? I thought snecma is jet engine mfg only & not radar mfg.

Submarine is risk ,Its not for the faint hearted. If people want to take the least risk path , They can join the Airforce. Atleast they have the ejection seat to bail out in trouble.

Let them have 100 P-3C buzzing over the Arabian sea , A submarine with the right tactics can still
go in do their job and come back.

The Soviets during the Cuban Missile Crises would criss cross the heavily ASW active areas of USN with their Pidly Foxtrot , they were many Airborne and other ASW assets searching for Soviet submarine , Still they would surface in the middle of action have some chai , Biscut and dive back.

And you are telling me that PN with 10 Onions and few Hangoooor is a detterent for firing Klooob.

USN has 2500+ miles range of missiles in subs & are thought to be developing even longer range ones. This only shows that if u have the means, do similar things. Afterall arent the USN subs quietest of the lot. So whats the big reason for that? Simple avoiding the risks, b’coz both the crew & sub are valuable assets, which shouldnt be lost.

If this thing is true, i think its the best thing really. M2k were a compromised solution & closure of factories shows how little it could have been customised for IAF. Its better to look at twin engine multi role versions as LCA could fill up the role of intended roles of m2k which IAF wanted. Putting few quids more on domestic product is much much better than putting 5 billion USD on foreign products, which can be replicated ourselves. Now our only real contender is Mig35s, which could be made a beast like that of MKIs.
