Yest it is our (Polish) Mig’s.
Two Polish MiG-29s arrive in Zoknia Vilnius, Dec. 29: Two Polish MiG-29s landed at the military airport in Zoknia, Lithuania, on Thursday to take over NATO duties patrolling the airspace over Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia on New Year’s Day. Two other fighter planes are expected on Friday. Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia joined NATO on March 29, 2004. Because they lack the aircraft needed to police their own airspace, they rely on NATO’s support in that area. The Poles will operate from a base in Lithuania, taking over the three-month rotating shift from the United States. The mission has been organized within NATO’s “Air Policing”.The cost of the three-month operation is estimated at some 16 million zlotys. It will be covered by Poland’s defence ministry. The Polish contingent consists of four MiG 29 fighter planes, six pilots and technical crew.
