Tony, What Martin didn’t tell us, is that he had a high quality Macro lense fitted to his mobile phone, crafty bugg*r……..:D………Still, just as good as ever Martin. As long as YOUR happy with them, that’s all that matters at the end of the day.

Unfortunately Jim the only thing attached to the phone was this idiot out in a rain storm, or as the wife would call it a Martin Ml1 idiot 😀 .
It was extremely dull so used flash on most of them, which only allowed about 15 shots before the phone died, I can see the point they are a bit dark, I lightened a couple on Photoshop in particular the last two, but the rest are pretty much as taken.
Thanks for all the kind comments I will have a play at some point and make them lighter. I am also looking at going for a Samsung either the S4 or wait a bit for S5. This HTC Sensation I have dies in no time.
I had the feeling this would spark some sort of debate into “Nanny state” etc, and I still feel strongly the actions of these people in the photos are closer to stupidity than they are to the cliff edge. The same person with the camera was later taking photos from the cliff edge of his friends who were then safely inland, not logical at all.
This photo gives an idea of the cracks that have appeared near Birling gap this week showing that the cliff edges are still highly unstable

Cracks in cliffs at Birling Gap by Martin D Stitchener, on Flickr
This bit was taped off as best as you can on a cliff edge and signs were around Birling gap saying try and keep 5 metres from the cliff edge at all times, I can see your point John that rescue services are there to rescue, the fire service are there to put out fires, it doesn’t mean you should set alight to your house. I personally could not care if people in photo had met a nasty end that was their choice, however I do feel it selfish that others would of been put at risk underneath unstable cliffs in a rescue or retrieving of body attempts. By all means a person has the right to put him/herself at risk, but they do not have the right to do that to somebody else even if they are rescue services.
To be honest we probably have a Nanny state because people can not think for themselves and use logic in dangerous situations(maybe this is due to nanny state” though ?) , I agree we shouldn’t need somebody to tell us something so obvious is dangerous. However time and time again its proven people just don’t think for themselves these days.
This link shows Birling gap 100 years ago, red shaded area shows whats eroded away in that time.
I see Martin, that there appears to be a Sea Defence wall in the Sea. Do you know if this has been washed away, or can it be seen on a Low Spring Tide?.

I have never noticed any signs of an old sea defences on any of my visits, so to be honest I am not sure.
Cottage nearest the edge is being pulled down now
Seen a fair few people walking the beaches recently with metal detectors, maybe I should get one and put my camera down for a bit next time I’m at the coast.
Trumper I think you echo what most of us are feeling at the moment, Trouble is any vote is one for the status quo with no option for change and no party truly representing the majority of the country.
I am not naive enough to think that UKIP are any better or worse than any of the other parties and it is apparent that some sort of smear campaign against them is in full flow. However if you have someone spurting such outwardly racist and damn right stupid comments out we all need to hear them, this goes for all those who represent any of the political parties.
What troubles me more is that we are in a time where all the parties have let down the population and some of the MP’s and party officials are so far removed from the realities of life in the UK now that its impossible for them to represent anyone. The trouble is this pushes people to look for alternatives and leads some people right into the arms of more far right groups( a growing problem in many European countries at the moment worryingly) . I don’t personally think UKIP are that closely linked to far right parties such as the BNP, however some of their members and follows clearly are. The fact is if your only agenda is a xenophobic one you can hardly expect to attract the most well rounded of individuals to your party.
Politics in this country needs to change and I guess UKIP will gain a lot of protests votes because of the overall dissatisfaction in all the other parties, but I would rather have the none of the above option on my voting slip than vote for a party I do not believe in (Just spoiling ballot paper does not get the message across).
Its down to us the citizens of the country to say we are not happy with any of the current parties and force a change, but at the moment I am not sure how that can be done and also I am not sure how many people even care anymore.
I am glad you like them, Flickr seems to be compressing them slightly on my PC giving a bit of blur. I agree they are mad trumper they were a bit different from a lot of the motorcycle display teams out there at the moment and I was impressed with the amount of lift they get from that ramp to perform their stunts considering the relatively low speeds involved.
I would say as a guess she is under tug just to aid maneuvering, seems normal as most of the ships I have seen go through Tower Bridge have been on tug.
I think they are fibreglass, I didn’t touch one but looks like they are.
Whilst I tend to think Christmas is the most over rated time of the year and it leaves me rather melancholic for younger days when all my family were still around, I also think its a good time to say up yours to the year that has passed and all the nasty bits it brought. Jim you are not alone when everyone on this forum cares about you. I reckon 2015 is going to be better for you mate and even though I am some what quieter on the forum of late, I am still about if you want to message me.
It annoys me hugely that they feel the need to bombard us at Christmas time, I switch them off its a melancholic enough time for me without that. Also get fed up being jumped on in every high street to give money. I know times are hard , but its these tactics that stop me giving to certain charities.

Being able to convert easily between Merlin and DB engines may make it a good deal for someone.
Really love these, you capture London so well Brian.
