Plus, the most curvaceous thing in it was Keira Knightley; lovely, yes, but not exactly ‘wonder woman’ material!

Met her a couple of times, a lovely girl, but I am not sure that ‘curvaceous’ is quite the right word to use, in her case…

In the TV series, the invisible aeroplane wasn’t exactly invisible.

Well, I haven’t seen that at Legends, so…?

Well according to the auction house, it was “very unique”, so unless your museum has a piece which is more unique than this bit, I’d say less than 3.5.

After spending a day being shelled to prevent it being captured 425/17 was recovered overnight and ‘dismantled’ for souvenirs by Australian soldiers until just parts of the frame remained; the uniqueness of this ‘canvas’ scrap essentially boils down to how much has survived the subsequent 98 years, is known/preserved and not competing against this piece at auction.

The wreckage as recovered

The wreckage being examined, and/or souvenirs being acquired

The remains after being stripped for souvenirs

Lots of parts of the wreck and Richthofens flying gear are held by the Australian War Memorial, but it is said (elsewhere and on other forums) that there is enough fabric taken from his last Fokker to cover a Zeppelin. Now that would be unique.

…it dawned on me I could have been doing warp factor 9 (70) coming up to a roundabout or junction…

Or it could have let go when you weren’t hacking it. If you want to look at it like that then you might never step outside for fear that a satellite will decide to crash to earth on the same patch of ground you are standing on. When you look at it that way it gets the adrenaline flowing and makes life worth living, doesn’t it?
Go on, joust with the OAPs on their mobility scooters as they warp factor 9-it through the shopping centre as though wearing blindfolds with a sense of immortality – but please tell us your lottery numbers now, just in case.

Get yourself an external hard drive, save your images into a folder by year and in that by month, you could save them into folders for individual events within the month folders; you don’t take 9,999 images in a month do you?. You might hold a years worth of images on your computer but the external hard drive is there so that you can run out the door with it in the event of a house fire (dunno if you have a lap or a desktop but it is always useful to have something like this duplicated).
There are programmes available with which would enable you to search the images but then you’d need to caption your images so that the programme has a chance…
You could compile a diary with which to aid your memory, in a Word document maybe – although similar programmes are available, but that depends on how much effort you want to go to.

There’s tons of junk food for your mind on the Internet. You can sit there for three or 10 or 20 hours a day getting in online arguments with other people who also choose to waste their time.

Let us, in no particular order, play catch up…

The queen has died.

In the words of one observer, it is “possibly the saddest, most heartbreaking ‘This exhibit is currently out of order’ sign ever” – the ant colony at London’s Natural History Museum has a sign on it that reads: “The queen ant has died.”

The sign goes on to explain that:

“When this happens the colony fails to survive. The worker ants are in the process of dismantling the fungus garden nests, then they will also die.”

All that is now left of the Trinidad Leaf-Cutter ant colony is a pile of discarded leaves, some shredded paper, and the remains of several dead ants that have yet to be cleaned out…

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Pop idol Bobby Vee, the boyish, grinning 1960s singer whose career was born when he took a Midwestern stage as a teenager to fill in after the 1959 plane crash that killed rock ‘n’ roll stars Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson, has died. He was 73.

Vee, whose hits included the chart-topping “Take Good Care of My Baby” and who helped a young Bob Dylan get his start, died Monday of advanced Alzheimer’s disease, said his son, Jeff Velline. Vee was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2011, and performed his last show that year.

The Scot who transformed the lives of mothers around the world when she invented disposable nappies has died at the age of 94.

Valerie Hunter-Gordon died on Sunday at her home, Ballindoun House, in Beauly, Inverness-shire.

She came up with her idea for a labour-saving alternative to towelling nappies after having her third child in 1948. At the time towelling nappies, pinned together and held in place with a pair of rubber pants, were the only option for mothers and had to be washed after use.

My kids love Spirited Away…

A key member of the Studio Ghibli team that brought us a library of animated classics including Spirited Away has died.

According to Japanese newspaper Mainichi, animator and colorist Michiyo Yasuda died Oct. 5 at the age of 77. She started her decades-long animation career in the late 1950s, before many women worked as creatives in the industry. She had a job in the ink and paint department at Japanese animation studio Toei when Isao Takahata and Hayao Miyazaki joined the company. The pair would go on to found Studio Ghibli.

In addition to working on some of Studio Ghibli’s best-loved films, including Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki’s Delivery Service, Yasuda was in charge of color design for a number of commercials and animated television shows.

Another idea would be to actively match unemployed people to jobs and force them to do them, except this time around, make sure the employer pays the wages.

A wonderful idea – if only all the jobs required untrained workers. Unfortunately many jobs require an element of experience or good knowledge in the field concerned, employers are rather reluctant to invest in training and prefer to entice the fully trained from other companies.
