(Written after a few beers…)
Really? So early in the day too.
Although the report said no booze was involved their is one simple way to get rid of this type of trouble and that starts at the boarding gate. Breath tests for those who are obviously well on the way and no alcohol served on the flight period. Although this will be because of a minority again spoiling it for the majority who know how to behave on flights, it would save this kind of trouble happening while at the same time increase the safety aspect also. I for one would be prepared to forgo booze on a flight no matter how lengthy it was….;)
The report does not mention drink in any way: that is what I was getting at. Maybe they were, maybe they weren’t, but ‘Dutch’ courage is usually an assistance in these incidents.
And airlines don’t appear interested in reducing or removing alcohol from their airliners: why?
In this day-and-age I’d be worried about posting something, especially photographs, on Facebook; the Police have already been called to the airport, let us hope further Police time isn’t wasted if these ‘disgusting human being’ take it upon themselves to exact some retribution on their Facebook accuser.
I’m not saying that she was wrong in her assessment of the character of these people but they would have been, and were, (quite rightly) thrown off the flight by the airline. Public humiliation (if these people actually feel humiliated) is an excellent punishment, and Facebook is probably the way to do it, but maybe it would be better for the airline to have some sort of ‘rouges gallery’ of people that have been turfed-off their flights…
…also 100% factual and not subjective, and potentially libellous, as a private ‘disgusting human beings’ post?
I’m guessing that if there was any interest from the disgusting ‘injured’ party then those who were abused by them could take action against them, and the airline could try for reimbursement of any monies lost too.
Simple blanket ban on the individuals concerned by all airlines will see their holiday future dreams gone………. plain, simple and effective.
If the airlines were interested, which they never seem to be because they could appear oppressive and high handed. Bad PR…
Why on earth would you expect anyone to slag him off for following what he believes in, you could be worshipping the great dried dog turd mounted on a plinth at the bottom of your garden for all I know and if that is what you believe in, fair enough, I find it strange you would think people would think otherwise.
Because that is what happens on this forum – most of us (me included) slag off those who put their faith in something that obviously doesn’t exist. On this occasion the fact that his invisible friend happens to be the invisible friend of a fair proportion of the locals might help him with his job and gain the respect of the Saudis for swallowing their fairy tales.
And strangely during a war God is on our side, and during WW2 and WW1 it was the same God on both sides.. Rather like the Irish troubles too.
But god was on the side of the Germans in WWII too – more so, in fact since they wore their belief on their uniform.

And we all know how god got behind them and helped to defeat us, don’t we? Erm, no.
It was essentially a rhetorical question – they are made to look realistic so that they give their owner/handler the sort of sensation they’d hope to get from having a real weapon in their hand but without the opportunity for death when they pull the trigger. And they do, all the bloody time. ‘Pick your pellets up,’ I’d say, only to the response ‘there’s too many of them…’
No, its true.
If his religion helps him in his career in this area then so be it.
My problem is with the nutters who won’t accept no for the definitive answer when trying to convert non followers, especially those who don’t believe in anything religious.
I believed it to be a bull, not a cow, but all the reports I read didn’t agree.
Mayor Andrew Ginther appeared to choke up as he called for the community to come together to help ensure children remain safe. He questioned why an eighth-grader would have a replica of a police firearm.
“There is something wrong in this country, and it is bringing its epidemic to our city streets,” Ginther said. “And a 13-year-old is dead in the city of Columbus because of our obsession with guns and violence.”…
…An officer responding to a reported armed robbery shot and killed a 13-year-old boy during a chase when the teen pulled from his waistband a BB gun that looked “practically identical” to a police weapon, authorities said Thursday.
Because the officer was white and the boy black, the case has brought inevitable comparisons with the 2014 fatal shooting in Cleveland of 12-year-old Tamir Rice. Columbus police are early in their investigation but say the differences in the Wednesday night shooting of Tyree King and the Cleveland case are stark.
“The only thing similar in nature is the age, race and outcome,” said Columbus police spokesman Sgt. Rich Weiner. “The facts are not similar, and that must be reiterated.”
Officers investigating the armed robbery report on Wednesday spotted three males east of downtown Columbus who matched the description of the suspects, authorities said. Two of them ran away when officers tried to speak with them.
The police chased the pair into a nearby alley and tried to take them into custody. That’s when Tyree pulled out a gun, and one officer fired his weapon, hitting the boy repeatedly, police said.
Tyree died at a children’s hospital. Authorities identified the officer who fired as a nine-year veteran of the force named Bryan Mason.
At a news conference Thursday, Police Chief Kim Jacobs displayed a photo of what she called a “replica” of the BB gun that Tyree had.
“Our officers carry a gun that looks practically identical to this weapon,” she said. “As you can see, it looks like a firearm that could kill you.”
Cannot fault the police officer – if the guns were practically identical what else could he do?
But why are ‘BB’ guns made to look that realistic?
My eldest son – against my wishes and best judgement – bought himself one which looked like some sort of pistol, but the upper bodywork and gun barrel was painted bright orange. He wanted to over paint the weapon because that is what his mates have done; apparently one of them has an M16 replica which originally had large areas of orange has been resprayed with disruptive camouflage over the orange, with orange bits that weren’t over painted being toned down – sheer stupidity. But you can’t forbid a 19 year old from anything easily; luckily he ran out of BBs and soon swapped his gun for a ‘£150(!) top of the range skateboard’, which he managed to snap about a month later…
But the fact is that the police would have difficulty deciding whether it was a real weapon or a fake, and any movement seen as threatening would result in death.
And we’re back to insults!
‘War criminal?’ Explain.
Ex premier. Stands to reason.
Listened to a debate on the radio yesterday insisting that, once again, actions were taken that failed to include a plan for the maintenance of Libya’s government services. If you take down a dictator then you have to put something in place to replace him and, in the same way that nature abhors a vacuum, various self interest groups made a grab for control which has lead to refugees and drownings by the thousands. So eager were some western governments to be seen to doing something that they failed to focus on what was happening in Syria and Iraq with ISIS and left a hole just ready to be rushed by the local crazies. What was needed was boots on the ground, and each western government was quite sure that wasn’t going to happen with their troops.
Cameron was taken in by poor intelligence – we had recently trained Gaddafi’s soldiers, and here they were threatening to shoot civilians in Benghazi – and a policing operation grew out of all proportion until something more drastic ‘needed’ to be done, and it seems regime change (by the locals) was chosen as the best option and allowed to happen. The French were just as enthusiastic and, with probably one eye on post war rebuilding contracts like those the US have been handing out to their own businesses, we all leapt into action.
Cameron and Sarkozy will be in court the day after the Devil needs to turn the heating on full, along with Blair, Bush, etc.
Richer! A heinous crime!
He is certainly not getting poorer.
David Cameron choose to accept a near £20,000 taxpayer-funded “golden goodbye” payment when he left Downing Street in June.
The former Prime Minister, who stepped down as an MP on Monday, took the tax-free ministerial severance payment when he resigned following the vote to leave the European Union on 23 June.
In addition to the payout, which is voluntary under the rules governing money given to departing politicians, Mr Cameron will also be entitled to £115,000 a year to run his own private office, the Daily Mail reported.
This “Public Duties Cost Allowance” covers the cost of offices and secretarial staff to pay for the “special position in public life” that former prime ministers hold.
Mr Cameron’s staff were reportedly calling around commercial real estate agents in central London on Tuesday to find a suitable property to house the new office which will run any political or charitable works he chooses to engage in now he has left public office…
…A friend of Mr Cameron defended his decision to take the payment by telling the Mail: “He is not a money-grubbing man. He passed a law which stopped him getting a huge pension from the day he left office”.
A grubby war criminal, but not money grabber?
More embarrassment for Forest Trump as his triumphant photo op fails miserably.
Donald Trump’s address to a black church in Flint, Michigan, was cut short by the church’s pastor when he launched into a tirade about Hillary Clinton. The incident came amid criticism from Mayor Karen Weaver that the visit is more than a “photo op” as the city continues to deal with its water contamination crisis.
During a speech at the historically-black Bethel United Methodist Church, Mr Trump began to tear into Hillary Clinton in his usual stump speech after a brief tour of the Flint water plant at the centre of the lead contamination controversy.
“Hillary failed on the economy. Just like she’s failed on foreign police,” he said. “Everything she touched didn’t work out. Nothing. Now Hillary Clinton—”
“Mr Trump I invited you here to thank us for what we’ve done in Flint, not give a political speech,” Rev Faith Green-Timmons interjected.
Mayor Weaver rebuked the visit earlier in the day, suggesting it was nothing more than a stunt. She said he never contacted her about the visit and the campaign never offered any help.
The trip comes amid Mr Trump’s ongoing effort to court the black vote, but Ms Weaver sounded a sceptical about the candidate’s intentions of visiting Flint, a predominantly low-income, black community.
“Flint is focused on fixing the problems caused by lead contamination of our drinking water, not photo ops,” she said, adding that water plant employees “cannot afford the disruption of a last-minute visit.”
Ms Weaver said she would not be in Flint during Mr Trump’s visit as she was in currently in Washington, DC, urging Congress to allocate funding to help fix the water crisis, the Detroit Free Press reported.
State Representative Sheldon Neeley criticised the visit, calling it “an opportunity to exploit the Flint community at-large”.
“I’ll be very interested to see if indeed he’s going to say anything about the Republican mess that caused the human health crisis in Flint,” he added. “If not, he’s being disingenuous by even visiting my town.”
Several dozens of protesters assembled outside of the plant to rebuke the campaign, echoing Ms Weaver’s accusations that Mr Trump was only on a public relations trip.
“I’m here to call on Donald Trump to stop using the Flint water crisis as a prop for his campaign. Not once since the beginning of his campaign has Trump addressed the crisis, despite ample opportunity,” Desiree Duell, a Flint mother and activist with the group Flint Rising, told the Free Press.
She continued: “We have been denied clean, safe water for more than two years and we want Donald Trump to know that we need a real solution to this crisis, not empty rhetoric or more of the same ‘run government like a business’ mentality that led to this crisis in the first place.”
So Trumpy tried to have a photo op in a black church in a deprived area in Flint by including a rant against Clinton, which was promptly shut down by the church’s pastor. Wonder how Fox News turned this to his favour?
Guess who Colin Powell called a ‘national disgrace’? Go on, guess!
Former Secretary of State Colin Powell has reportedly called Republican nominee Donald Trump a “national disgrace,” according to leaked emails.
The Republican retired four-star general’s comments were revealed in a hack on his personal emails.
The emails were posted on DCLeaks.com, which has reportedly been tied to other recent high-profile hacks.
Mr Powell, who has been quiet during the election, said he had “no further comment” but was “not denying it”……The former secretary of state, who served during George W Bush’s administration, also called Mr Trump an “international pariah” who “is in the process of destroying himself”.
“No need for Dems to attack him,” the email said, according to BuzzFeed News.In a separate email sent on 21 August, Mr Powell also criticised Mr Trump for promoting the birther movement, which questioned whether President Barack Obama was born in the US.
“Yup, the whole birther movement was racist,” the email read. “That’s what the 99% believe. When Trump couldn’t keep that up he said he also wanted to see if the certificate noted that he was a Muslim.”
Give yourself a point if you said Trump…
Why not ask Sam to do it?
Propaganda, right.
I have to say that I regard video links on this forum as a little like coming across a particularly confusing Russian name as a side or background character in fiction: I know the story will continue whether I try to pronounce that name in my mind or not so, apart from maybe naming the character in my mind after its initial letter, I move on and am untroubled by my conscience.
Huh, I bet Sam is also the local undertaker too. He does every other job in that bloody town.
