Hi Baphomet , the MAR-1 is an indigenous anti radar missile with range +- 20 km .

Flogger has a impressive aount of LA pics let me add him a little :

Brazil’s indigenous MBT Osorio , comparable to the M-1 Abrams ( while the first trusts on its velocity the Abrams trust on its superarmor )

Also Argentina has developed tanks here is a not so good picture of the TAM, Mirage 2000 from Peru, An-26 from Mexico, domestically designed and built Sonda rockets from Brazil the VS-30, Sonda III and IV, the launch of the VLS from the Brazilian Alcantara space pad and Embraer R-99

I think its a big mistake to consolidate any kind of technology development all into one basket. What people dont want to face is that its a bussiness. It doesnt matter that its government funded and not private funded, space programs are there to make money for those who work on it. And without competition, its to their advantage to go over budget and as go as far beyond schedule as they can get away with. Just look at all the eurocanard fighter programs, no competition = average 20 years of development and over budget by order of magnitudes. The world as a whole will profit better by having many small programs competing with eachother than one big money hole that everyone contributes too.

I agree with you 100% but is imperative nations like Mexico, Brazil or Argentina to developed the space technology, for example Mexico in the 1960s was capable of building sonda rockets until the late 1970s it means Mexico and Brazil started at the same time but Mexico quit the race and the Mexican space program was simply eliminated for 2 reasons it seemed cheaper to use american rockets than develope their own and infact it was a grave mistake and lack of investment by the private sector making the Mexican space program relying in the government funds and the Mexican Government invest too little in research and development programs and that was good for the US keeping Mexico so dependant on the US and European technology, Brazil uses European and american technology to suply it`s own needs but still Brazil tries to develope it`s own technology, Mexico now has SATEX a new program to create domestic satellites as Argentina has done with the CONAE`s SAC satellites built in Bariloche designed and built in Argentina and also Brazil has done the same, but of the three nations only Brazil has a well developed space program and still Brazil it is trying to build Sondas and satelite launcher vehicles even in joint programs with Chile.
Argentina and Brasil also cooperate in space technology in fact the Brasilian sonda VS-30 is going to be loaded with Argentine instrumentaion and Argentina currently is signing joint programs with Peru and a Funny note Argentina`s domestic designed and built satellite SAC B was tested in Brazilian enviromental laboratories.

On the Picture we see the VLS, one of the VLS`s aerodynamic configurations studies, the launch of the Brazilian-Chinese CBERS satellite from a Chinese Long March 4B and some Brazilian sonda rockets and most interesting a TJ-2 turbine made in Brazil although it is still just a prototype and only will be used in UAVs also a drawing of Brazil`s Sondas and Satellite laucher rockets the drawing shows how many companies are involved in the programs

1)I think differently . I dont see technology as important for a country to develop . There are many countries in the world whose tech level is lower than brasil and their living standarts is much better than ours .

    2) Kifir was born when israeli spies stole Mirage’s technicial infos from belgian territory

    3) Please lets not forget our Santos Dumont , the one who invented the airplane 😀

you are right about the fact that Brazil laggs behind to many nations in living standards in latin America Costarica, Cuba, Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Uruguay are over Brazil in living standards even without having a EMBRAER or a VLS stellite launcher, but Brazil in many areas is poor like Mexico and Argentina because it is not enought to have the technology but we need to spread it`s use among the citizens of Latin America, the problem is complex, Mexico Brazil and Argentina have the technology to build domestic cars, electronics, aircraft, rockets and more things but of those capabilities and companies only Brazil`s EMBRAER has become a world known brand, we have the technology but we lack the ability up to now to sell our technology against the competition of the big firms of the developed countries and that has make us dependant on the investment of the rich nations that play us and exploit us, but if we develope our technology we won`t need the investment of the rich in the way we need it currently.
Latin America and specially South America and Mexico have the resources and technology to become independent but we need to achieve the best technology transfers to become exporters of our goods not exporters for foreign firms that only get richer and do not let us grow.
I have faith in Brazil as a nation that will lead Latin America to our independence and take our destine back and in Mexico as the glue that will link the US and Mercosur to grow, but Brazil and Argentina need to cooperate more to create a powerful force in MERCOSUR and avoid the US presure us and get always it`s way.
So i believe Brazil will sooner or later spread it`s own technology in MERCOSUR and the Su-35 and more important the VLS can promote the grow of the telecommunications and electronics industry in the way EMBRAER open the independence of Brazil in the Area of aerospace also let`s remember tha Argentina, Brazil and Mexico are building domestic satellites and the VLS is not the only space program Argentina`s Pablo de Leon and associates are contestants in the X Prize for developing a civil spaceship.

on the picture an Argetine rocket Sonda and the Argentine built and designed satellite Victor that was launched by a Molyinia rocket from Russia

hmmm, 9 pages… has anyone mentioned the most capable model Mig-23 yet?

(I mean the fastest, highest climbing, highest g rated Mig-23?)

    Give you a hint….

Able to fly at 1,440km/h at sea level and Mach 2.5 at altitude, cleared to pull 12gs with a ceiling of 30km…

i feel that would be the MiG-23 drone is not it

Well it also matters how many F-16Ns, Kfirs, A-4s and F-5s the Aggressor squadrons operated. They had tons of F-5s and A-4s, that the USAF and USN weren’t using anymore, so they could use each one for a couple of years and then dump it. The F-16 is known to have problems with cracks in his wings anyway, and they had a small number of Kfirs.
I’m not so sure it’s all about quality, quantity might play a role here. I could be wrong though.

Erez recently i read an article in which it was mentioned that Mexico once was offered the Kfir C2 in the 1980s and many considered that that would had been a better aircraft than the crapy F-5Es since the Kfir C2 would had had been turned into C10 or Kfir 2000 making it a better aircraft and the note it drraw my attention was the one that the Israelies offered even the assembly of the Kfirs in Mexico can you confirm this 😀

Mexican Air Force Mil-26, An-26 and F-5 weird combination in the cold war.
There were some rumours that in the 1980 Israel offered Mexico the IAI Kfir and according to some even the assambling of the Kfirs in Mexico but under US presure Mexico opted for the F-5E, Today the things are different, the Mi-8 helicopter deal is old since 1995 the governments of Russia and Mexico were planning the assembly of Mil Helicopters in Mexico, many consider that the Mi-8 helicopters in mexican service are mostly grounded and few are in active service nevertheless Mexico opted for economic reasons to built the assembly and overhaul plants in three mexican states due to the large fleets of MiL helicoters operated in Latin America since the plants will give the overhaul to Peruvian, Nicarauguan, Cuban and other latin American Mil Helicopters and even Antonov aircraft used by any latin American Air Forces . in fact these assembly and overhaul Mil helicopters plants in Mexico will work in similar fashion to the Eurocopter-Helibras cooperation that opeartes in Brazil

My opinion about space programms is quite simple. At the moment any space programm is either a millitary or dcientific programm, and so they are paid for by the goverment. No space programm could be run inly from the commercial income it generates and that will remain so for the foreseeable future.

Commercial viable space programms will be develpoed by private companies, when there is a real market for them. And then those will compete for the commercial satelitte launches.

Communications technology however is an important technology for the future and Latin America should develop a joint capability (or better expand the existing).

MEROCSUR could join ESA (which is already searching for money) and get a percentage in the ürpgramme. Get a good technolgy transfer and you get a better deal, then doing all alone.

My personal opinion on space programms is that there should be only one worldwide programm and it should be a joint effort paid for by all nations. Just imagine what could have done if the money spent on developing all those launch plattforms on other projects.

That would include free technolgy transfer to all partner nations.

I agree but up to a degree because a civil space program is on the way with Burt Rutan and the X price contenders, also Brazil`s satellite launch vehicle is not so expensive only USD $8 million dollars a piece per VLS Launcher, a bargain compared to a Su-30MKI or a Rafale is not it? Brazil space program is quit cheap only USD $33 million in 2002 even Russia`s space program costs in 2002 were quit cheap only USD $312 million that is bargain compared to the Billions spend by the US USD $14 billions, France USD $1.7billion or Japan`s USD $2.47 Billion dollars.
The Russian and Brazil cooperation in the Orion project is good it will provide cheap alternatives to ESA or NASA specially if the orion program goes ahead or even the X price 😀 and a funny note the VLS program total costs in 18 years were USD $270 million dollars, in 18 years Brazil spent less than five Eurofighter getting a space rocket satellite launcher with it`s own technology that can be paid by TV stations, telecommunication services and the military is not it?

On the Picture Mexican Air Force aircraft weir combination S-70 Black Hawk and Mi-2; Antonov An-26 and C-130 Hercules

An intersting disussion about the economical and politcal limitations and chances of the Latin American countries.
Imho the US policy was sound in limiting the access to the most modern (and expensive) weapons systems for the region. All those countries are not facing an external enemy, so any arms purchase would be directly aimed at their neighbours. Such moves would eventually always end in an arms race. That would have used money that could have been spent much ´better on improving the infrastructure, social situation etc. of the people. A strong airforce does not keep your people from immigrating to the US, if their living conditions are poor. That sentence is very true imho.
Latin America as a whole should have an interest in joining exisitng space programms and perhaps developing their own civil aviation programm. Embraer for example good be the basis of a Latin American “Coche Aviacion” (Airbus) – programme, that could compete with Boeing and Airbus.
A space programm however is waste of money. There are more launch plattforms and satellite manufactures around, then there is a commercial interest. So in the end such a programme would always depend on government funding. A better solution would be to join other programms.

I agree that we should focus in how to improve the living standards of latin america as a whole but without technology that is impossible in a world of economic competition i would ask you would you recommend to the US to stop it`s space program? or degrade it air force as that of Mexico or Argentina? we should focus as Embraer has done into creating a powerful technical base to make money and develope our living standards but without aerospace and telecommunications that is impossible Latin America should join the international space program but as a joint latin american space program or at least as a MERCOSUR sponsor space program as ESA is for the EU and as the Russian or europeans have done with our own technology not just as buyers or users of american or european technology to sponsor a space program you need a market, not a goverment and the civil space exploration is knocking the door in the 21st century why latin america should follow NASA but not Kurt Rutan? we should connect the Telecomunications industry to the aerospace industry and you will have civil funding.
