A couple of photos of ‘RA at Halfpenny Green the day after filming finished and the airfield re-opened to the public, along with a tug that was on the car park that I hadn’t seen there before.

Please excuse the quality, they were taken with an old pocket digi I always keep to hand!
That last photo of the silver Spitfire is stunning!
Thanks for the replies.
Not a type I am familiar with, must look it up.
Thanks for all the suggestions so far guys!
Could it be possible that this is not a complete aircraft, but a composite of captured parts?
Just a thought.
If the date on the photo is correct, then I’m guessing it would be being used to raise funds for the war effort, and could it have been put together to form a generic German aircraft?
As i say, just a thought…….
Many thanks for the incredibly quick reply Propstrike!
I can label the image now.

Spent a couple of cold hours at Halfpenny Green today (and as I type this the sun has now come out!!)
Some interesting aircraft and vehicles on show, and thankyou to the organisers for putting on the best value event on a Bank Holiday – would have happily paid £5 per person, so £2 made for incredibly good value!
Here a few shots from today:
DHC-1 Chipmunk
Taylor Titch

I have only visited GAM once (unfortunately) back in 2005, but Mr Vallance’s passion and enthusiasm was evident in the volunteers who were there on the day of my visit, from showing me around a Shackleton and Sea Prince, then taking time to find me and pass a set of ear defenders ready for a run-up of the Sea Vixen!
This memory has stuck with me, and I have always rated GAM as one of the very best volunteer-run museums in the UK.
Mr Vallance, you have created something very special against adversity from people who do not understand the feeling for heritage, aviation or otherwise, and for that I am grateful.
May you rest in peace Sir, and I hope your dream can be realised.
My thoughts are with your family and friends at this time.

OZPLANE quote: “TMN, I hope you enjoyed your wander through Ashwell. It’s an interesting village but I would say that as I live there. With regard to your Spitfire, I was working at Duxford yesterday and MH434 left mid-afternoon and hadn’t returned when I left at 1730 so my guess that is the one you saw on it’s way back.”
Thanks for the reply, and yes Ashwell is very beautiful!
All the best,

Hi,
Just before 6pm yesterday evening we were wandering through Ashwell (just the other side of Royston) and a Spitfire overflew us heading in the direction of Duxford.
It appeared to be V or a IX from the Merlin engine and the cannon fit, but was just too high to positively identify it.
Has anyone got an idea which one it may have been please?
We guessed at AB910, but as we were West of Duxford it seemed to be heading in from an odd direction considering Coningsby it North of Duxford.
Many thanks in advance.
PS. Excellent thread as always!

We’ll be there!
Missed last years event for some unknown reason, but not this time.
Think it’ll be time to renew the Club membership as well?
See you there Tim,

Did you come and have a peer through WR963?
We didn’t this time, but we’ll be regular visitors to Airbase, so didn’t want to get around everything too quickly!
