Hurrah !
At last !
About time !
Still can’t get my head around why the B-24 reassembly at Hendon took priority though, seeing as that is indoors !
Different group doing the work?, or just no-one pointed out that this particular Valiant is THE LAST COMPLETE EXAMPLE !!!
Seriously though, it will be great to see it complete again.
Fantastic shots Pete, thanks for sharing them.
Please post more !
Cheers Mark12,
Don’t vanish altogether, as your knowledge is much appreciated.

Rlangham,
I think it was a case of ‘In the right place at the right time’ plus I got talking to them about it as I have a friend who is fascinated by them after he got to try one at the Ashburton Aviation Museum in New Zealand. But saying that, they are a very friendly group, and if they realise you are genuinely interested, who knows….?
Must say it was an interesting experience trying to keep it straight and level !
curlyboy,
One of MAM’s Phantoms is in its Vietnam colours, and the other is in bits away from the main aircraft park (think its just used for spares)
Hope this helps,
TMN
..
Can’t help with any photo’s I’m afraid, but I thought Kemble had just been given a listed status ??
Suppose that would stop the building of a few thousand houses, shopping and entertainment complex, along with a new dual-carriageway and the odd industrial estate, which seems to have befallen far too many of our airfields.
Which would these NIMBY’s prefer, the odd few aircraft movements, or a massive population influx ?
P.s.
Or Blue Bicycle Films (who produced it), at warbirds@bbf.co.nz
It really is a cracking DVD, some interesting filming – not just from fixed points on the ground.
The Wanaka 04 DVD is advertised inside the cover of the ‘British Airshows 2004’ DVD as available at http://www.ddhe.co.uk
Hope this helps.
Thanks Hunterxf382, you have answered a question that has been bugging me about ‘838 since it was at Cosford !
Back on the subject of Cosford, pity they can’t get all four of their Meteors together for a photo-shoot before the NF14 gets hung up !
Pretty sure the museum is open between 26th and 30th December.
The Meteor NF14 was once on show at St. Athan and has been at Cosford for a few years now – see my recent thread with pics taken last Tuesday for its current scheme.
The MAM Meteor NF14 was previously at Cosford when it was painted all over yellow – either from its test flying days, or it may even have been the prototype (?).
I first saw Ray fly a display in (I think) 1986 in the P-40, and for me (then 15) it was a dream come true – Ray was my childhood hero.
My passion for aviation was ignited by this great man.
Words cannot express how I feel at this moment in time.
My very deepest condolences to all his family and friends.
Ray – Thankyou.
It was my first taxi-run attendance on Saturday, so I stayed for both the afternoon one and the evening one.
What can I say?
Magical, atmospheric, superb – the list goes on and still I can’t think of words fitting for the impression the evening run has left with me.
I just stood looking at her after she had shut down – I was transfixed.
It was worth the 3 hour (each way) drive, the late night drive home in the fog, and the frozen feet, legs and many other parts(!). I think the settling frost really hightened the atmosphere, and gave everyone in attenadance an impression of what it might have been like back in the early 1940’s.
A very big thankyou to all involved – you have a very unique and special event – long may the runs continue.

Wow that was a close call, I only saw ‘597 in its blue scheme for the first time last Sunday !
Thanks for the pics, curlyboy.
Great photo’s Stieglitz.
I really like the formation shots.
