Didn’t see any conductors on any of the buses we went on, just paid the driver or showed the day-pass ticket (very cheap way of getting about!), but quite a few did appear to have their families along for the ride!

Interesting photos, their cars look a litle more modern now! I went to Malta with my family in 1986 and it was fun watching my Father and Grandfather looking at all the 1940’s/50’s buses and 50’s/60’s cars that rusted and were M.O.T.’d off the roads here years ago. Yes, a fantastic place and I did see ‘Faith’. . .

There are still some gems about:

    http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr350/aviationanoraks/leyland.jpg

And so we believe (but stand to be corrected!) that a lot of the buses are ex-British Armed Forces, now modified but still running, although there do seem to be an increasing number of modern buses appearing that do not have the same charm

Also amazing what history you find when least expecting it!
Seen in the corner of a silversmiths shop in Valletta – can anyone identify what nationality it may be?

Some of our aviation related photo’s from Malta in 2008 can be found at the bottom of the page, here: http://www.aviationanoraks.co.uk/index/2008%20Archive/index.html

We stayed in the Hotel Phoenicia in Floriana, just outside of Valletta’s city walls, and our room overlooked the old barracks, which we believe are now used as Government offices.
The photo’s below show one of the buildings, the parade ground (now football pitches), and a close up of the Royal Engineers crest on one of the buildings.
    Hope this helps.

A fantastic show, thanks to everyone involved.
Please have another one next year!!!!

Shame about the weather FORECAST though, no where near as bad as predicted, until after the show when some lanes around Waddington were getting quite flooded!
Then to top it all a glorious sunset while heading back along the A5 to Shropshire!!

The food in the restaurant at East Kirkby is by far the best we’ve experienced at a British aviation museum – no complaints there – and the soup-n-a-roll at the November night run is most welcome too!

As for Cosford’s sandwiches – thought they had a new menu or changed contractor? They don’t look any different to the last few years!

The sightseeing trip worked out around £80 – £90 if I remember correctly for a standard seat.
It was worth the money though, we were airborne for a good 45 minutes, and the take-off and landing is impressive – inbetween the large ships in Grand Harbour!

We have started adding memorials, not just to airmen, to our website, as a tribute to all that have fallen, on our Lest We Forget page.

This is going to seem like a very strange question, but as there is usually a dog ‘display’ team in one of the arena’s, are the public allowed to bring dogs onto the site?
