A few more (Shacks included!)
Have been struggling with file size for some reason tonight, but here you go..
And here’s a few of mine of the VC10…..
Mark 9
Ha! You beat me to it! I was there last Saturday and was going to post a few photos shortly. Was the first time I had been and was impressed.
Was the Merchantman open today?
Spiteful21,
The biplane is a reproduction they have built over a good few years of the P.6, which, if I remember correctly, dates back to the 1920’s.
It was taken to the most recent Paris Air Show, and generated a great deal of interest. It may not be the real thing, but it certainly is very convincing.
Couple more shots for you.
And people have moaned about Duxfords Mossie colour scheme!
At least that one is accurate!
Cosford have had Victors in all three schemes over the years. Unfortunately the previous two were not looked after as this one seems to be, and are no longer around. 🙁
Septic,
I believe they only acquired the two battered cockpit sections and are having to build the rest from scratch.
The second cockpit is being used (so I was told) to build up the instrument panel, which will then be transferred to the rebuild.
Its great to see another ‘forgotten’ type being resurected.
Thanks Dave.
Superb photo’s
Whats the story behind the Catalina’s new colours?
I was lucky enough to fly in her out of Wanaka last year, and have tried to keep track of her ever since, but I didn’t know she was now in French colours.
Superb photos!!
Can’t wait for the show in May now – appetite well and truly whetted !!!
Neither of the Cosford Andovers are really visable at the moment, the museum one is hidden away over the far side of the RAF base along with the Varsity, and the stored one is sitting beyond the runway by one of the hangers, not in the best of conditions – see background of attached photo taken 12/3/05
Fantastic photos !!
Thanks for posting them.
Just hope the black T-bird is preserved (hopefully in the FAA Museum) as it looks stunning.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – well done to Malcolm, he’s doing a magnificent job single-handedly on the Canberra, and yes I do think he should get some sort of award or recognition for what he is doing. Very nice guy as well.
I cannot understand why one was not saved.
Cosford should have had one – would have been the biggest R+D exhibit they had!
I remember seeing one in the static at Abingdon just before they were cancelled, and also (possibly the following year) a few of them being parked on the far side, including IIRC the grey and white one.
Wish I had taken some photo’s now. It was blinkin’ ugly, but had a certain charm(!)
Thanks for posting the photo’s Eric Mc – any more?
This is one of the museums on my list for this year.
I remember the Jet Gyrodyne being at Cosford some years back. The last time I saw it was on the back of a low-loader going down the M40, as I was on my way to France. It was getting some very strange looks from the people driving past it!
