Thanks for the nod on the movements Merlin – not every day you get chance to photograph a Tonka F3 in a country lane!!
The Valiant looks a lot better now it is nearly finished, but a pity about the condensation obvious on the cockpit windows.
Thanks for the heads up – I’ll try and get over tomorrow am then.

Janie,
I thought I had a photo of the beacon, but I can’t find it.
Best I can do is a crop of another photo – sorry the quality is poor, but hope it helps.
Cheers Merlin,
Hopefully be over myself tomorrow/Sunday to update my photo collection of the Valiant .
Also, the Cosford Kestral (?) XS695
By the way they are going, I reckon only another couple of weeks or so!
The tail-cone was not in place last Saturday when I dropped in, but the wings were on.

Having now read the press release (thanks Archer), I still can’t make up my mind, as it appears to be a bit on the vague side.
If anything definate had been stated, it would be time to panic, but as it is nothing appears to have been agreed.
Saying that though, all party’s involved need to be made aware of the feeling this has created, and by the discussions on this and other forums, along with the correspondance (I hope) they are receiving, perhaps a positive result may come?
I did my work experience from school at Cosford back in the mid/late 80’s and did get access to most of the airliners there at the time.
The VC10 was complete inside, but the Brittannia was fully stripped out, as its final role was as a cargo aircraft, IIRC.
As a very regular visitor to Cosford, I am waiting for further news or sight of the said press-release(?), before I give my thoughts or pass comment, but I did take quite a few photo’s of the VC10 and 707 yesterday, just in case.
..
Thanks for the update Merlin101 – can’t help but think she looks like a toilet roll with wings on at the moment !
Its not taking them long now they have got around to it, so I hope the preservation guys will be let loose on her soon.
Been looking for an excuse to post these.
Happy Birthday old girl.

I’ll miss it at Hendon. It’s easier for me (and I’m guessing millions of others) to see it there than Cosford.
Pity it couldn’t have been kept at the museum’s main location.
So, sited in the centre of the UK, two minutes off a motorway is outlying is it ??? 😀
The weather put me off having a trog over today as well – you are a brave man Merlin!!
Will be over next weekend hopefully to have a nose around.
Any plans for it to do the show circuit / fly-ins ?
Fly in as many historic types as cash-flow and weather allow !
Go to California in May for Chino show.
Oh yes, – see the Valiant back in one piece and get loads of photo’s of her before she vanishes back indoors.
