‘The Herald’ newspaper today published a very readable feature on Concorde G-BOAA, currently the star exhibit at The Scottish National Museum of Flight… 😀
The lack of paragraph spacing seems to be a problem this week with The Herald online, but it’s much nicer in print and with photos too.
Its a good article – im very tempted to try to fit in a visit when i can.
I went on a walkaround of the prototype Concorde at Duxfoprd and was expecting big things when it was announced that MAN was getting one, but dissapointingly it seems to be in the clutches of non-visionaries who prefer to keep it locked up apart from Wedding ceremonies and a few escorted tours on a couple of weekends each year. The RJX is simmilarly locked up and sitting in a corner looking sad.
I can’t for the life of me see the sense in this – the Concorde at Duxford is open for people to troop round when they want – i am sure that tickets made available from the nearby aviation shop at MAN for a few pounds each would generate income to contribute toward upkeep.
No doubt in a year or so they will announce that it is rusting away and they arnt making enough money to make it safe enough to continue to allow public access……
If you ask an American to name a place in the East Midlands, they may JUST ABOUT (and I say that with some scepticism!!) name Nottingham , but one place they’re never likely to come up with is Castle Donnington,
… unless they are a mosher… :dev2: :dev2:
I have a absolutely legal plan for it 🙂 My whole family is in legal/law professions so i have a good idea of how not to do anything that is viewed as illegal. I am not going to be done for cyber squatting!
Other than have a non-profit fan site, then there is absolutely NOTHING you can do with these domain names which involves making money.
JW (or representatives) only has to ask for these domain names, at any time, and you have to hand them over.
If JW (or representatives) think you are making any money at all out of these domain names, then they have a very strong argument for for a cease and desist order against you and also such damages as they feel are appropriate.
You cant use somone elses name in any way. The courts will always ask the question “could Mr Average be confused by this into thinking that this venture is linked in some way with the persons name contained in the domain name ?”
If the answer to the above is “Yes” – then you are in a heap of trouble.
😀 😀 i now own jowhileyairport.com and jowhileyinternational.com hehe :diablo:
…
Wont get you anywhere..
IF it did become “Jo Whiley Airport” then the process goes like this:
1) they tell you where you can shove your demands for cash
2) they go to court
3) the judge rules that you have no lawfull reason for owning such a name and orders the domain name transferred to them…. oh… and imposes costs against you.
Its all different nowadays, you cant blackmail people for cash anymore by snapping up their business name on a domain and then trying to flog it to them – you have to either have that same name yourself as good reason for owning it OR sell it to them upon request at a reasonable price (which is usually about £50 tops)
Otherwise they go to court – cite the many, many precident cases over the last 5 years – and win totally.
Check the net for the guy who tried to sell Branson and BA their own domain names – he got very, very heavily spanked in court

Passengers want to fly direct. It the plane was like one of my golf balls they would only get to their destination after landing in the desert, bouncing off a few trees landing in the water and changing planes twice 🙂

Would you get gangs of kids jumping into lakes, diving to the bottom and then following you around shouting “wanna buy some nearly new airbuses, mister? – i’ve got a couple of 747 – 400’s as well!! ” 🙂
OR… when you next go on holiday, the plane lines up – the pilot opens the throttles – and the plane slews wildly into the air sideways and curves around until it is flying at 30 degrees to the runway. Over the intercom the pilot says “Damm…i sliced it!!” 🙂

And ther’s me last week listening to Iron Maiden’s “Bring your daughter to the Slaughter” from London to Manchester 😀
I wouldnt worry tooo much about whats on your eye-pod!! – it reads to me like there is a bit more to this.
If i have read it right, then the cabbie dobbed this guy in because of the lyrics of the music he was playing, right ?
QED – this guy is a nob-head who was playing his music LOUDLY and thereby p***sing everybody off.
Coz if it had been thru normal earphones at normal levels, then how would anyone know what he was listening to ?
Just my 2 peneth worth

That Anset RJ, which operator is it? Cant read if from the fuselage.
Excuse my lack of aircraft knowledge, but if you mean the first one with winglets (pic 018), then it is G-ELNX and has “Citelynx.com” on the side.
The head on shot (pic 020) is the same “Lufthansa Regional” that appears side on in the next picture (pic 022).
Appols for being such a duffer about A/C types – I just like photographing them if they catch my eye ! 🙂
I used to regularly go to airshows, so am more mugged-up on military types, but never took too deep an interest in differing commercial types. I just spend a lot of time at MAN because it is so close to my home and i have been scanning and watching and photographing the aircraft movements since i was a kid.

Michael
PS thanks all for the kind comments about the pics – cheers
Doesn’t sound good to me. Burn on CD / backup all the pictures tou can, then run a scandisk on that drive… If errors are found, but you can get most back, change the disk ASAP.
Good advice, but before you do this, take the lid off your pc (if you can) and make sure that the ribbon cables between the drives and the motherboard are seated properley.
You dont need to remove the cables – just put gentle but firm pressure on the plastic bar at the end of the cable where it joins the motherboard or drive to make sure it is sitting flat across its width.
When you have checked them all – reboot your pc and see if you still get error messages.
My guess is that it is likely to be a physical problem rather than something that software tools can fix – either badly seated cable(s) or the disk heads are on their way out.
Fab pics mate!
Any shots of the Zoom 767 on Friday, as i was on it 🙂
And i was suprised when i saw the Sky Europe 73G there on Friday!
You arn’t back from Toronto already are you? – that is some day trip !!!:)
EDIT: excellent pics, by the way, G-PIK
Excellent pics
Stirling work with the pics there, in miserable conditions.
I went up on Saturday and only stayed for about half-an-hour – the conditions were awfull. took a few pics which showed on the camera moniter as being desparately un-inspiring for colour etc, due to the gloom
I wont post them all here, but i took a few pics as the sun came out and when i got them home onto the pc i was surprised to see they were all a bit soft and out of focus.
Strange, thinks i, but on closer inspection under the photoshop microscope i found that the lack of sharpness was actually due to heat haze coming off the rapidly drying runway between me and the aircraft !!!
Didnt know whether to laugh or cry….
Nice shots – I must say the bmi 767-300 is growing on me.
Cheers – the Alitalia was my favourite paint scheme, funnily enough – thought it looked a bit classic.
I do agree that the BMI Star Alliance looks nice tho – heres another shot of it.
Great shots mate!
You there tomorrow?? I’m flying out on the Zoom to YYZ 🙂
I really dont know if i will be there tommorow – depends on work & weather – have made mental note about Zoom @ 12.30 and will bag it if i see it.
Michael
Last one…..
