    Hello All

Ive made the recruired contact with the people concerned with regards to the Alpha 1 brand and I await feedback from all parties concerned.

I appreciate the fact that Martin may not have had the best people or best advice behind him but no one can dought that he had the conviction to do something about his life the outcome was never positive from day one but at least he can rest assured that he started an airline and hopefully in the future he would have learnt from his mistakes and 5 or 10 years from now we will be hearing more of Martin perhaps starting something new in airline travel but fore now Let the whole issue go.

If I do manage to secure the alpha 1 brand at a price reflecting both the positive and negative exposure of the brand I assure you, you will be hearing more of the Brand just not in the UK, the brand is to be used at a new location under a new venture.

    regards

Ahhhhaaaaaaaaaa – Now i get it – this is yet another put-up publicity job by Mr H or one of his cronies.

YET ANOTHER “new poster” who weaves some rubbish that leads neatly to “Martin is really trying to do a great job under difficult circumstances and should be applauded

Do me a favour Martin – just try to concentrate properley on your charity driving to ensure it generates more money than your “airline” did – sick children dont have the time to wait around for your changes of plans to come to fruition.

    Ian,
If it is of any assistance, as you have never been here, then you might like to look at my efforts at a proper (acurate) spotting guide to MAN at http://www.spotterswiki.com/index.php?title=Manchester_Airport_%28MAN/EGCC%29#Location_2

Hope it is of some use.

    Michael

PS i will likely be there myself at some point during that period ! 🙂

Isn’t there somebody out there who could fund a competition to pay $1,000,000, or so, to anybody who can take a picture of the “landing sites” and the “equipment” left at those sites??? I am certain that money will never be needed.

Personally, I am off to find a backyard telescope, much much more powerful than my current one, which can take pics just close enough to see the surface.

If you are so sure that such a competition would never have to pay out money, then why dont YOU have the courage of your convictions and make the challenge to the world?

Oh ,sorry, i forgot – you arn’t serious about this are you? – merely an internet crank who seems to have once had a small job in the Navy, got flunked out and is now deeply anti-establishment.

Or someone who wanted to be in the Navy, but wasnt good enough to get in and is now deeply anti-establishment

Or an anti-american from some corner of the world.

    Which one is it?

Although am only new on this forum, but seriously speaking how much would the domain name and the website be worth along with the alpha 1 airways company name be and how would someone contact Martin to take over the reighns of ALPHA 1 as a going concern.

    regards
    KALIMITED

    Is this a wind-up?

IF you seriously wanted to take over the brand identity of an airline (however small or failed), then you would be a serious enough business-person to know how to find and approach the principal such a company and how to value, structure and make a proper take-over offer.

However, your quote “how would someone contact Martin to take over the reighns of ALPHA 1 as a going concern” intregues me – what exactly would you do with the “reins” once you had them?

Are you suggesting that you would seriously attempt to run it as an airline ? or are you simply a domain name grabber who wants to spin it around and flog the brand-name to someone else for a quick profit ?

I know which one i think it is.

    ahem – 666

    1) yes the flag WAS wired to make it appear as fluttering in a breeze – i remember that from tv programmes broadcast in the years after the moon landings – I have just checked and this is well referred to on other internet sites

    2) cameras – as i have already said, they used Hasselblad roll-film cameras which were modified so as to be easily operated wearing thick gloves and were quickly adaptable to be either chest mounted or use a folding pistol grip and also extensively modified mechanically to be able to work in extreme heat and vacuums.

Hasselblad cameras have always been renowned for producing the very highest quality images available as they use large format roll-film and very expensive optics – hence the difference in quality between the video footage and the stills.

http://www.hasselblad.se/ goto sections “our company / hassleblad in space”

    3) shadows DONT always go the same way. A single source of light give similar shadow direction, but the reality is that light is scattered and reflected before casting shadows and so they can and do sometimes point different directions.

    4) I still firmly believe that they did go to the moon and do all those things

Ho humm – conspiracy theorists, in my opinion, WANT to believe in conspiracies because it adds a little mystery, sparkle and a sense of importance to their otherwise dull lives.

After conspiracy theorys, these same people seem to progress to some theory which actually involves them, here and now, as that adds more excitement to their little lives.

So it goes from moon landings / JFK’s assasination to something like alien abduction / secret world order.

So tell me “SSS-666” – do you line your hats with tin-foil ??

Anyhoo, my tuppence worth on the moon landing thing:

    1) fluttering flag – i seem to remember it was wired to appear as fluttering
    2) pic quality – 1969 streaming video against roll-film slide pictures (hassleblad 500cm cameras)
    3) footprints – you get them on the seabed where there is deff no air.
    4) shadows – look around you on a sunny day – reflections will generally go one way, but not always.

Which is the “best” edit software to get?

Ultimately – Photoshop – its the big daddy and will do everything you will ever want to…and more.

However, for doing what we do with aviation pics, then Photoshop Elements (stripped down version of Photoshop) and PaintShop Pro are both very good and have everything you need for tweaking the best out of your aviation pics.

PaintShopPro has the edge, in my opinion over Photoshop Elements and you can get the last version of PaintShopPro (ver 8) at knock down prices on the internet – ive seen it advertised for ÂŁ12 which is a totally legit retail version with serial number.

At that sort of money, you can also budget on a decent book about using the software – there are many books about now which show how to process digital pictures on a pc to get best results.

That is the flimsiest excuse I’ve ever seen for dredging up a tired and exhausted topic one more time.

What is wrong with you guys? There’s nothing new to be said. You are acting like a load of old dears in a twilight nursing home repetitively discussing your glory days in the blitz.

    Moggy
    Personal comment – not moderation

…thats true Deary mind you we never had airo-liners in them days what with rationing and all that we was lucky to get an ‘alf decent meal once a week it was all powdered eggs back then you know and we had to walk everywhere as public transport was reserved for them what ‘ad important jobs still they was good times not during the blitz tho when we come back up after they rung the all-clear ‘alf the street was gone you try telling that to the kids of today and they wont believe you did i ever tell you about my Stans’s boy david ‘e ‘wanted to be a pilot but they put ‘im in the infantry regiment instead ‘cos he had been a bookkeeper before the war………………….

    Gary,

http://www.freeserifsoftware.com/ for a legal and totally free copy of PhotoPlus 6 or download a trial copy of “PaintShop Pro” for a 30 day tryout of a very serious photo editor which has all the functions you could ever want for tweaking the very best results out of your pics.

Do try this – i assure you that you will be totally astounded at how much you can improve the quality of pics on your pc once you have the hang of using a program like this – it is what EVERY serious aviation photography buff does – shoot it simple in the camera and then spend some time improving the image on the pc.

    Gary,

This edit isnt by any means perfect, but what i have tried to do is give the picture a bit more punch by bringing the light levels down and adding more colour saturation. I have tweaked the sharpness slightly, but cant really add much as it has already been sharpened.

The general consensus amongst photographers is that you should turn all camera sharpening and image adjustment down (or off), which then leaves you free to control these adjustments much more delicately using an editing program on your pc like photoshop or paint shop pro. You may wish to also try using gamma adjustment software to calibrate your pc monitor for brightness, so that you can adjust the brightness levels of your pics to be in line with other peoples screen – that is often the reason for over bright picture adjustment.

    Regards

    Michael
