That is indeed a whale and the largest examples of which (Blue Whales) grow to around 30 metres in length and weigh in the region of 180-200 tons. A 40 metre long whale would certainly be something of a giant, even by whale standards!

I couldn’t be wrong, but I might have been mistaken. 😀 Don’t really know how big it was with nothing to compare it too but it was huge (maybe 30 metres?).
