maybe the cost of a third cat would out way the possible operational benefits? i really like the look of the two islands and if they benefit the operation of the ships all the better, helm control & flyco being seperate, also the exhaust for the gas turbines and diesels must take up a bit of space, hence why the american cvn islands can be smaller.will the fords have five cats then? i did not know that.

yes, where where all our allies during the falklands? i know its an obvious argument, suez crises uk & france? im sure more imformed people than i could give more examples,F35C,is it not always better to have something & not need it rather than need something you dont have? also I believe that the closer you get to a target without being seen is better than them knowing your comeing fom a distance,

well yes its in the past, but im sure the skills needed to operate future fixed wing operations will be learned in the next decade,i understand it will be hard & complicated but will happen.

dont get me wrong it was a totaly crap decision to get rid of the harriers, even if they kept half of them to operarate of lusty would of been so much better than the nothing we have now,i was actually dissapointed that they got rid of the sea harriers a few years back, but hay thats only my opinion,

im a total believer in that by 2019 we will have the basic skills to operate a limited number of fixed wing aircraft of our carrier, its 8years away surely thats enough time to rotate the various skills/experience needed between our allies 11 carriers, the more we learn the more we can pass on and grow the expertize we need.

    hi
my proper carrier would be like our cvf & lots of them,ie some for just air defence some for just strike but with a nuclear reactor for cruiseing and gas turbines for extra oomph ie 32knots + but unfortunatly we in britain dont have that much dosh, unlike the americans who can afford lots of cvn?
