Thanks a lot for your help SOC. I still think almost all of these pictures are forcibly resized to 1024 x 768 resolution to make them suitable for using as desktop wallpapers. I am attaching 3 images … The first one is original. Compare it with the second image which is quite similar to the first one (I don’t remember where I got that one). The last image is the modified and somewhat corrected resolution of the first image.

    Regards.

Image resize possible.. It looks like some along the line tried their photoshop skills.. 😀

    here are some useful stuff…

Boeing seeks to persuade India to buy Super Hornet fightersBy Philip Dine
    Post-Dispatch Washington Bureau
    07/26/2005

WASHINGTON – The prospect of selling fighter jets to the world’s largest democracy is generating mounting interest at Boeing’s military headquarters in St. Louis.

Executives are just back from a trip to India late last week, during which they spoke to political and military leaders about the possible sale of the St. Louis-built F/A-18 Super Hornet.

In India, Chris Chadwick, Boeing’s vice president for Hornet programs, told Indian reporters, “As the world watches closely while the story of India unfolds, we at Boeing see the next 60 years of aerospace in India as dynamic, entrepreneurial and globally dynamic.”

India is in the market for 126 aircraft, said Boeing spokeswoman Pat Frost, who accompanied Chadwick and others on the trip. Advertisement

“That’s a lot of airplanes. It’s a great opportunity,” Frost said Tuesday. The Boeing group spoke to Air Force and government officials who’re trying to put together a formal request for proposals. That request is expected to be ready between mid-fall and December, Frost said.

“We know they’re interested in co-production and technology transfer,” Frost said. “We’re willing to entertain all these different options.”

A sale to India would be Boeing’s first international deal for the Super Hornet, though the F/A-18 Hornet has been sold overseas. Right now, the U.S. Navy is the Super Hornet’s sole customer.

The Boeing talks took place just a few days after India and the United States agreed to strengthen cooperation on nuclear, defense and security issues.

“With all the agreements going on between the U.S. government and India, India’s obviously becoming a very important economic player,” Frost said.

India, with more than 1 billion people and a rapidly growing economy, is an attractive customer, particularly because with a birth rate higher than China, it is expected to become the largest nation on Earth.

Boeing is trying to take advantage of the decision earlier this year by the administration of President George W. Bush to allow fighter sales to India after agreeing to sell F-16s, built by Lockheed Martin Corp., to India’s arch-rival neighbor, Pakistan.

“They’ve got a reasonable chance in India,” said Richard Aboulafia, aerospace analyst at the Teal Group Corp. in Fairfax, Va. “The big advantage they have is the U.S. Navy’s stamp of approval, and this is going to be a consistently upgraded aircraft.”

At this point, Aboulafia said he’d give a slight edge to Lockheed’s F-16, in part because Pakistan has the F-16 and is buying more. European aircraft also plan to compete in India.

Shank, Thanks for keeping your cool. If you read AFM keep reading it. Dont try to post once in a while and try to talk some philosophy. This forum is for people to express their opinion. If somebody want to brag let’m brag. This happens with everybody regardless of nationality. I am not sure whether you are visiting other aviation forums or not.. but in every forum I have been there is always people who take up nationalism.. So that is not new to AFM. So keep reading and post some useful stuff If u have one.

F-16 and F-18.. costly.. I agree… We are talking about what is good for IAF .. yes I agree.. But remember whom IAF is protecting… these deals cost billions of dollars which result in more jobs in countries like USA may be in France also.. So this has good political and economical opputunity.

Let see… who is buying brand new A/c in 100s currently.. no one except India… so when the competition get stiff, India should ask for more than tech transfer..

Seeing the way things are progressing, only boeing is serious abt MRCA deal. why cannot be it this way. India is keen to become to UNSC member..so to placate the bigwigs and to gain political favours..so..

    Adm Gorkshow/MiG-29K/MKI/T-90 – Russia
    Hawk AJT – UK
    Scorpene Submarine deal – France
    F-16/F-18 MRCA deal – USA

    What say guys??

Also the thing is who can deliver most A/C in less time… IMO ..new big brother.. 😀

It’s no secret what aircraft the IAF wants.

LOL… IAF wants a familiar a/c in return for nothing which GOI is looking for return benefits.. Look at the Gripen for Chicken deal with Thailand.. Thats how here after most of the deals will be done.. If we think about political and financial gains (economic) only two contenders stand tall… F-16 and F-18…. I am not sure what french and Russians are offering other than co-production and tech transfer..

IMHO, co-production and tech transfer are not going to elevate the Indian defense companies capabilities other than may be assembling and some machining.. If u need real tech transfer, then India need is new materials and state of the art electronic components..

So the competition should be more on what India gets in return

Mirage 2000- 5 – Old A/c, to be phased out by French airforce shortly, what kind of return India get – moving the M2k production line to India ?

Mig-29MKI – might get all the goodies from the ruskies when compared with others… may be more closer co-operation… return.. continious supply of spares – no sale to Pakistan – LOL… pakistan always have the back door in Ukraine..

Gripen – I am not sure whether in India, chicken is available for export ????

F-16 / F-18 — Whole new ball game especially with the newly found ‘well behaved nuclear power ” title.

Guys … add more ammo if needed …
