So what happened to your theories of F-18E/F ? or they were just wet dreams. The same is true for Rafale, Gripen and F-16E.
Only older block F-16, M2K and MIG-29 are option(and there is big IF when it is going to be signed)
M2K5 at best(by the time old M2K is upgraded there will be no airframe life left behind in them). even M2K9 is more expensive than F-16E. Even M2K9 is out of option. I think at the end only MIG-29 will be left behind.

Star49, Cool down. It looks like ur wishful thinking that it should be Mig-29. Please keep this thread to discussion not pushing ur ideas. Looks like u are giving options to India what to buy for. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

When does it come into service? The intended production-run is till 2017!
When we compare, we have to stick to capabilities still a hand. ๐Ÿ˜‰
For most roles/missions the F-16s will do for half the cost per flying-hour. ๐Ÿ™‚

The whole point of comparison is wrong. There can be no comparison between these two as they are entirely different class of aircraft. In short F-16 is a good dog fighter and MKI is a long strategic fighter / Bomber. Range / weapons / size / endurance all makes the difference.

Have you seen the IMAX movie, “Fighter Pilot”? I am wondering whether it is worth 14 bucks to go see that movie.

I saw this two months back at Dayton Airforce Museum IMAX theater.. It is worth it every penny if u are aviation buff like me.

    Pakistan navy fights Karachi fire

At least 90 people have been injured in a fire aboard two Pakistan Navy vessels at a dock in the southern port city of Karachi, emergency services say.
Hospital staff say many of the wounded suffered severe burns.

Emergency services say the blaze started during an exercise at a naval dockyard. Witnesses saw dozens of ambulances rushing to the scene.

A huge security operation has now been set up around the fire, which officials say is being brought under control.

An ambulance spokesman told the Reuters news agency that the fire on one of the ships had been extinguished.

    India Picks Rafale-M over MiG-29K
    (c) K.B. Sherman, 2003

The Indian Navy recently stated its preference for the French Rafale-M fighter over the MiG-29K for its new aircraft carrier, the ex-Admiral Gorshkov. Seven Rafales currently operate from the French carrier Charles de Gaulle. Originally, India had agreed to buy some of the Gorshkovโ€™s existing complement of MiG-29K aircraft to equip the shipโ€™s air wing. However, this deal has been bogged-down for over four years in bargaining over price and options.

The Indian Navy says it prefers the Rafale (Dassault Aviation of France) because it requires less reconfiguration than would be the case for the MiG-29K. India is likely to buy a first batch of eight Rafales.

The Rafale-M is a single-seat, twin-engine sea attack, air defense and air superiority aircraft. The Rafale-M entered service in 2001 and ten have been delivered. It is equipped with laser designation pods for laser guidance of air-to-ground missiles. It carries the Thales Spectra electronic warfare suite, incorporating a radar warner, DAL laser warning receiver, missile warning system, and jammers. The aircraft is also equipped with a Thales RBE-2 look- down, shoot-up radar and a Thales SAGEM OSF infrared search and track system. The Admiral Gorshkov is the last of four ships in its class, commissioned by the Russian Navy in 1987 and retired in 1994 after the USSR collapsed. India signed an agreement to acquire the carrier in 1998 and haggling over the price and features has been ongoing since. Defense News reports that Indiaโ€™s acquisition of the Gorshkov is scheduled to occur later this year.

Although,I suppose its possible they changed their mids again.

Iranian, you are refering to a news in 2003.. this is 2005.. LOL ๐Ÿ˜€

Its common sense that sale of any strategic weapon would be a cause of concern to a neighbouring country. Keeping journalists sensations aside, it is equally expected that Pakistan will bring up the issue with the US. However, I for one think that this sale will not really take place (though I could be wrong). The reason being, if India is still concerned about buying trainer aircraft from Britain with American parts, buying such a critical and expensive weapon system directly from the source makes even less sense to me. Policy makers in the States know this too and are well aware of the short-comings on the Pakistani side. However, from what I remember reading before, American companies do have a stake in the development of Arrow and sale of either system will bring in money. Patriots are being offered but might not be sold, lets say after intense opposition from Pakistan. In that case, the US will just have to give the nod to Israel to sell the Arrow. As is, the Indians already have the radars for the system.

On a side note, guys we should all show restraint even if someone posts news that is completely out there, esp personal attacks just ruins any topic regardless of good informative stuff that it might have. Dont forget, we have a choice to answer/reply to any post or not.

Good answer Mr. Ali. It is better to post a fact based reply or be quiet if there is flaming involved. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Precisely…remains to be seen how many countries r willing to provide source codes for such integration. Unless im mistaken, quite recently russia said they wont if India goes for Patriots.

Patriots are old systems.. India should look for Arrow system along with Israeli cooperation.
