    If you’re interested, I have a friend who has a brand new EOS300D for sale, totally unused (he managed to get a good, VAT-free deal on the newer 350D before the 300 had been delivered, so got both).

    I’ll check out the price if you want?

    Ok, ok. I know it was Mr Kipling.

    Rudyard Kipling that is!

    And I’m sure that (although I never met him) Steve was the kind of man that Kipling was describing.

    If

    “If”

    If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
    If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
    But make allowance for their doubting too,
    If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
    Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,
    Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,
    And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise:

    If you can dream–and not make dreams your master,
    If you can think–and not make thoughts your aim;
    If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
    And treat those two impostors just the same;
    If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken
    Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
    Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
    And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools:

    If you can make one heap of all your winnings
    And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
    And lose, and start again at your beginnings
    And never breathe a word about your loss;
    If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
    To serve your turn long after they are gone,
    And so hold on when there is nothing in you
    Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

    If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
    Or walk with kings–nor lose the common touch,
    If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
    If all men count with you, but none too much,
    If you can fill the unforgiving minute
    With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
    Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
    And, which is more, you’ll be a Man, my son!

    Hi,
    … thinking of this one next.

    http://www.leica-camera.com/digitalekameras/digitalmodul/index_e.html

    Yeah. It took a family member to die and leave me the money for the M7 and ONE lens …

    It’d have to be a 6 month rollover Lottery win for the Leica R9 plus 10mp Digital Module R and a couple of lenses!!

    On a separate note – replying this has just prompted me to update the firmware on my 8800. I also forgot to mention one of the main reasons to got for the 8800 – an f2.8 lens … unheard of on this type of ‘prosumer’ digital.

    Had an S5000 (3mp) which was excellent. Sold it to a mate who loves it too. I believe the S5500 (4mp) is at least as good.

    I now have a Nikon 8800 (8mp) which has ‘VR’ (Vibration Reduction) and a 10x optical zoom lens (eq to 35-350). The VR means that you can handhold the camera fully extended at shutter speeds around 1/60th sec !!! This lens/camera is the next best thing to a full blown SLR system for aviation/sports photography.

    Sadly, I don’t make full use of it as my main camera is a ‘film’ (yep, really) Leica M7 …

    The S5000 was a damn good camera though and at well under £200 is an absolute bargain. Still, I reckon you can say the same about the Nikon 8800 at under £500.

    … issue is still being discussed (by professionals) on pprune,

    Now that WILL be a first !! :diablo:

    … speculation on there is, at least, from more ‘informed’ sources.

    … or at least those who think they are more informed.

    Both ac en-route to East Midlands after displaying on the Mersey (vice Liverpool JL due to cross-wind issues). Spit normally at 2500′, Lanc was at 1000′.

    Then to Cosford.
