As this is my local aviation museum, I had worries about the future when the NDR route was announced.
I am pleased to say, having recently visited the museum and seen the new layout together with speaking to one of the volunteers, that the future is very rosy indeed and I look forward to seeing it develop over the coming years.
Well done to ALL involved!!
Looks like a Learjet 55 to me.
Distinctive cockpit frame and lower aerodynamic fin you can see below the engine cowling.
Spotted ape
Here we have a couple from me, taken at Horsham St. Faith.
Might of the 56th FG start up for a mission 1943 viewed from the control tower.
Col. Isbell and other senior officers watch the 458th BG assemble for a mission. Looking up to the control glasshouse atop the tower in 1944.
Went to France in October to visit the bunker at Watten, which I have to say was very impressive.
About 20 mins down the road east of St. Omer near Hazebrouck is a very atmospheric V1 launch site in the woods. Spooky looking at the launch ramp blast walls pointing at London.
I borrowed a book from the library which I think was called ‘Hitlers V-Weapon Sites’ can’t remember author but listed all sites, their locations and current state. Very suprised how many sites there were.
Guess they will in time, but were engine running yesterday 20/09

Is this the same one coming back or a different one. Well known crew member?
Thanks gents for your replies,
Yes we know of the one at Andrewsfields and certainly no harm in asking, whether its them or indeed the USAF!
My only concern is the aircraft has been outside like ours for a similar time so the undercarraige maybe the same, if not worse.
Thanks again.
Only joking Keith! it was me on duty that day. Great pics as always.
That Freelander looks good – hope he wasn’t picking his nose.:)
Hello,
Many thanks for reply.
Not wishing to sound greedy but BOTH would be great!!
Spotted Ape.
Lassie come home
Hi,
14 Spynke Road.
Seven crew members and two children playing in the garden were killed.
Rather good display about this and other accidents/incidents at the City of Norwich Aviation Museum.
Ray’s cockpit section at CNAM
Just for everybodys info Ray’s cockpit section has now been moved into the main display building at the City of Norwich Aviation Museum.
Many thanks to Fenland Aviation Museum and of course Ray’s widow Mary.
T-21,
Great stories, I believe many an aircrew spent thier time removing the ‘Barrel’ over the years of the station. Now to be found opposite the church, Old Catton.
Have included a dispersal plan of the 458th. You may have to copy then zoom in to get the names.
View of HSF taken in 1946. Have highlighted area occupied by the museum.
Also of note are the hangar complex bottom right off fifers lane and the Firs speedway track bottom left.
Grass area between the two now occupied by the terminal, car park, hotel etc.

Posted this picture on the AIX forum ref: the concrete semi-circle within the red square.
Conclusion that it was possibly a skeet range.
