Wow what an honour that must of been to have an ex Stirling crew member come visit the project and share some of his wartime experiences with you!

Nice to see some classic jet action. Any idea of when the single seat Gnat / Ajeet will be making its first flight (unless I’ve missed it already)?

Hi and welcome to the forum. I’m not sure if you have seen this link at all?

Looks like I was the only one there then. My first time at Kenley and my first aeroboot for a couple of years. On arrival it was light drizzle that at first kept some of the traders from uncovering their stock, but as the light rain persisted they slowly came off. Lots of books and model kits on offer with some nice travel agent models. On the parts front it seemed a bit thin, with some dig items from various sites plus of note I noticed a seen before Miles Martinet windscreen frame, NOS stick tops for the Sea Vixen and Javelin and very briefly a very nice spade grip that quickly disappeared back under a sheet.

I can’t say it looked particularly well attended or that there was an abundance of items on offer, but it felt really good to be out and about again. To end the visit I took a stroll along Kenleys hallowed runways – for me worth the journey on their own!

Absolutely brilliant news  . Thanks for the post.

Having been sat in the back of a Canberra on a full power run I can testify that the acceleration and kick in the back from those RR Avon’s is far more than it looks.

A very interesting post that makes perfect sense.  The Sea Fury has flown the flag for the RNHF / Navy Wings for many years, and as they say they have another (VR930) for a possible future return if needed

Regarding the Seafire as a possible replacement, I am assuming it to be one of the LFMk.III / Mk.XVII airworthy examples that are already in the UK? The sole surviving Seafire FR.47 would obviously be the ultimate dream but I gather that it would not be allowed to fly in the UK because of its bitsa (although superb) restoration and an apparent lack of necessary paperwork?!

There is a rumour that Amazon rents space in Air Ministry’s ‘garage’!

My first visit for many a year and a good day out that appeared to be very well attended. The standard of the museum displays is really impressive. Good to see the Hunter and Jetstream there too.

I just wondered if someone could put a chain saw to good use in front of the cafe!?

I’ll have a word with the other ‘alf and make a note in the diary for this Saturday /  Sunday.

    Thanks for the heads up.

After so so many false starts, and I really can’t remember how many it’s been, it finally looks like we will actually get to see a Tempest II flying in the air.
It looks absolutely stunning and will together with their magnificent Fury be the star of many airshows.
Congratulations and many thanks to everyone at Anglia Restorations for making this become a reality!
