Update from TFC: http://fighter-collection.com/cft/tfc-diary/
Which includes the following very interestng statement
“Do not feel sad but Stephen Grey has decided the time has come to hang up his flying helmet & gloves. His final public displays will be at Flying Legends on the 13th and 14th July at Duxford, fittingly in our anniversary year. Your presence will be a wonderful thank you to the man whose vision, wisdom and talented flying has assisted the creation & success of this world class Legendary Air show. Stephen will continue to fly for pleasure and will continue to be a driving force behind the Fighter Collection in years to come”.
Whatever your interest in aviation i think we all owe Stephen Grey a huge thankyou !

Thanks for that CS. I was merely repeating what the Sea Vixen’s official fb page had announced.

Been reported on Facebook that “Foxy Lady” is scheduled to fly at approx 6pm on Friday :applause:

Great photo brewerybod. Totally agree about Bentwaters being a very worthy resting place, should it be possible.
Personally I’d love to see it on public display at Wethersfield somehow, but as the Police are still there in force (no pun Intended) that has even less chance of happening !
Rob
Excellent news. Always good when a new type takes to the skies.
Rob
There was a long term resident Mystere at Andrewsfield airfield in Essex too.
Rob
Roger Hoefling ?
Definately one of my favourites
Rob
Richard, the Duxford Mystere is now apparently at the Pima Air and Space museum in the US.

Magister incident – On PPRuNe its been reported that “Aircraft was performing a touch and go but the pilot in the rear seat selected gear up instead of pushing the throttle forward. Apparently the levers are close together”.
Rob
I think the photo actually proves him wrong. The undercarriage has collapsed. A Magister sits low on its undercarriage. But not *that* low.

I could be wrong but judging by the crops it looks to be still on its (short) undercart.

I’m looking for one more item to help complete a left side Wyvern panel mock up. Its this switch marked out in red, either a 5CW/4180 part no C1212Y OR 5CW/4194 part no X.M.-C Dowty.
Any suggestions much appreciated 🙂
Rob
For me a much anticipated return of this magnificent aircraft.
Incidentally for anyone interested in foxy lady and her progress its worth joining her facebook group.

Of course, my negative opinion of the Student may be tainted by having to recover the wreck from the end of Duxford’s runway after EFTO.
I well remember standing in my garden one evening talking to someone and hearing the engine let go with a loud booooooom at the western end during take off. Think the pilot was extremely lucky to survive judging by the wreckage.
Rob
And if anyone knows, Beaufighter VI knows !
