After appearing to be doomed to being scrapped, its great to see this lovely ole girl being dismantled correctly and with care. Well done to Parkhouse aviation and to whoever it is that has acquired her.

This aircraft will always be special to me, as its the only aircraft that my father got to fly in whilst he was a member of the DAS in the early eighties. Sadly he succumbed to cancer a couple of years later. And its down to him that i owe my deep fascination with historic aviation, having often been around Dx from an early age during its embryonic museum days.

I still have somewhere the photos that he took as the Varsity flown by Don Selway seemingly did a mini-tour of some of the local wartime airfields.

There are those on here better qualified to answer that question than me, but i don’t think there is any CAA involvememnt as its not going to actually fly (hopefully). But a large dose of common sense is probably a good idea before deciding , where, when and who is sat at the controls.
