I understand and respect your point of view Hornchurch, but although the UK has for a long time had plenty of privately owned airworthy Spitfires that could and do fill the role as flying memorials, there are still multiple examples allowed to fly with the BBMF.
So i would of thought having another Lancaster available on the airshow circuit is not necessarily cause for concern to PA474’s continued operation. It is after all the flights ‘jewel in the crown’.
Exactly. In my opinion the Beaver usually makes a terrible noise, but this one sounded very sweet ;).
Oh it was a Beaver.. i did wonder but i hav’nt seen or heard one for so long i wasn’t sure. Lovely sounding radial too.
Very gloomy and grey here today, and it seemed to be just flying circuits with flaps down from what i could make out.
Thanks for taking the time to look into those incidents Paul.. much appreciated. 🙂
Thanks for that. So the Meteor ended up at Boscombe then.
Good question SADSACK. Gatwicks red/yellow/white G-VIXN is i believe an ex drone / target tug variant, although not sure if its ex Llanbedr.
Also what happened to the last flying D-16 Meteor?
The Sea Vixen is fine, apart from a few defects that Matt came back with the other day
As in came back from a flight or taxi?
Really missed this magnificent aeroplane last season, so fingers crossed for this year! 🙂
Duxford as far as i know are not having one as they have no indoor space to put one.
 Not being funny but when has that stopped them previously?
Andy, you ok for me to bring those photos back to you on the day.. or would you prefer them posted sooner?
Thanks Adrian. I’m sure those requesting the info will appreciate that.
Strewth! Would look ‘slightly’ better if they actually got the main undercart the right way round, and put the inner main gear doors up.
Very interesting reading. Can i just add a thank you to SeaDog for his honest and open post. As always there’s two sides to every story.
Baz, how did you get on with your request for a bed bath three times a day? 😀
Preserving a Spantax Coronado
I hope Tillerman won’t mind me stealing his idea, but as the Coronado thread has been closed in Commercial i thought i would add these links to this thread instead. They make interesting viewing;

Interesting thread.. but wouldn’t it be better placed in Historic?
