Can’t remember what the ‘buy it now’ price was, but the newreader also said that bidding on the Harrier had reached in excess of £90k.

Yes fascinating incident. And so is the story of the Bundesmarine Sea Hawk being pursued and shot at by MiG 21’s.

Well i’m planning on making it for the first time. But i have a funny feeling my wallet will be staying closed due to a lack of parts for you know what.

Ah yes Lancaster Bomber beer. I was fortunate enough to be at Duxford just prior to B17 Liberty Belle returning home, and the pilot was offering up some bottles of this that he had been given previously to any takers, as they needed to save some weight for the journey home. I subsequently stepped forward and took delivery ;). I kept a couple unopened as a momento.

It was in the LA-9 that i last saw Ray fly. One sunny afternoon at Duxford and RH took this very potent fighter up for a brief display / shakedown flight. Awesome aeroplane and in his hands you just couldn’t take your eyes of it.! 😎

Seem to remember though at least one pilot (possibly Lee P?) didn’t want to fly it again after a flight somewhere.
